Why would God be in favor us supporting a day where people glorify witches and evil? It’s silly. No offense to anyone here, but those Christians who do not see it are simply worldly focused and they are not seeking to pick up their cross, deny themselves as Jesus said ~ IMO
Yesterday at the church I go to with my wife there was a baptism. This person talked about how this was bringing light to a dark day being baptized on Halloween.

Again, I am not against evangelism on Halloween, but one needs to be holy and separate and not follow after the customs of Halloween or to imitate it in some way. There should be no Fall Festivals on the same day, and neither should we open the door and hand anything out to as to fit in with the day of Halloween. We should be distinct and different from the world and not try and blend in with it; Especially when it is a custom of the world that glorifies the sins of witchcraft, murder, and when it promotes demons and mindless death. Fear is also pushed on this holiday, as well. That should be reason enough. But many just cannot see it. But Halloween is a clear glorification of evil that the world celebrates in. Sure, it may seem harmless at first glance or on the surface, but you have to look deeper than that. There is a spiritual battle going on for men’s souls behind the scenes.

It is not as if you have to dress up as something "evil". I find it funny that Christians claim that Halloween and yet most churches ( at least around here can't speak for every church in the country of country, but have fall carnivals and things and guess when they usually hit right around Halloween I find that funny the only difference is that it is usually considered to be a safer option in terms of giving out candy ( because most people are not going to put stuff in it and people are supposed to be less likely to hurt the children ( you know these people).

You cannot control what that holiday is about. When you go to a CVS or another store, you see witches and other evil things promoted on this holiday. Fear is also promoted with haunted houses that are so bad that they pay money if you can get through the whole thing. In my own sub division, you can see plenty of homes that try to be all spooky and scary. That is their goal because that is what Halloween is all about. To scare and to make others be afraid. Yeah, they do it in fun, but God does not call us to display evil things and or to participate in a day that glorifies evil, witchcraft, demons, murder, and mindless death. These things are clearly of the devil, and it does not take a detective to figure out that Halloween is bad. I could keep writing about all the bad things about Halloween and it is clearly not as innocent as people try to make it out to be. It’s obvious Halloween is pure evil. I mean stop and think for a moment. If a guy showed up at your door in a nice business suit, you would not be too alarmed or scared by such a person. But if somebody like Marilyn Manson or one of those guys from the rock band called, Wednesday13, I think you would not want to open your door. Why? Because they look evil. So appearances do matter. So when I see a bunch of people looking evil and putting up evil things all around, it is a sure bet that holiday celebration is evil. Even the origins of Halloween are evil, but that’s not even the point. The holiday as it exists today is evil. To not see this is simply to bury one’s head in the sand - IMO.

While I am sure if a person’s conscience is okay with that, I personally would not want to boast to others that I was baptized on a day that Satanists do their human sacrifices (Which is a special day to them). Again, the whole holy and separate thing. Why not November 1st and wait a day? For me, what fellowship does light have with darkness? To me, there is no co-mingling of that which is good with that which is evil.

Today, when people are blurring the line between right and wrong every day, nobody can really tell anymore the good guys from the bad guys. It’s all just grey area. People just are trying to fit in. But I want to follow Jesus and that at times is not popular. The Lord Jesus requires us to deny our selves and to pick up our cross and to follow Him. Can you imagine Jesus participating in Halloween? I don’t think that would be possible under any circumstance, and thus, I would say that this should be a Christian’s reason to put evil things like Halloween out of their lives.

It seems that you are pushing fear as well.

There is a difference between the fear on Halloween vs. the fear of God.
The fear of Halloween leads to despair and to run and to be afraid with no hope.
The fear of God leads a person to forsake their sin and to draw closer to God and His love and to be loving towards Him, and others. Big difference there. Not the same thing. Not by a long shot.

Isn't God/Jesus in control? Is God not God on Halloween? It seems to me that you are letting Satan win when you refuse to exercise your freedom in Christ on a certain day of the year.

I don't see the difference. Fear is fear. I have hope and am not in despair and am not a Christian and I have celebrated Halloween my entire life. Using fear to coerce behavior is immoral in my opinion. If forsaking sin and following God is so great then why is fear needed at all?

There is a difference between God’s permissive will, vs. God’s good plan and desire for each human life. God wants us to seek life through His Son Jesus Christ, by calling upon His name for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus is looking to forgive a person’s sins, and to transform their life from out of darkness and into light. The pleasures of sin only last for a season and they are a hollow pleasure. However, the good things of God will last forever. God is looking for a relationship with Him. God is looking for us to love Him, and others.

Again, worldly fear leads to despair and hopelessness. For example: If Rick knew a bunch of killers were out to get him, he could have a wordly fear in that he is afraid to die each day with no hope of what will happen to him if he dies and if the life he lived will be cut short.

Godly fear leads to a life in tune with God’s plan and purposes in loving God and others. There is no fear of death, and or what others can do to you, if you truly trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. For whether we live or die, we are with the Lord and His love.

As for why fear is needed: Well, God knows about the truth about how many tend to react more positively if there are consequences involved. It really is about justice done. Imagine if there were no more speed limits on the highway. More people would speed like crazy and more accidents would be caused. But imagine if there was a law that said that if you speed 15 miles per hour over the speed limit on the highway, you could be fined up to 50,000 dollars and possibly even go to jail for a time. Would that not motivate you more to not speed? Would you not be a little afraid to speed in that case? So the punishment of a crime can motivate people to do the right thing. So the fear you talk about is punishment by God over man’s sins that is something he caused. God did not cause men to sin, and so the blame of sin is on their heads, and they should of course face the music just as they would face the penalty of breaking the Law in their own city.

The thing is that if there was no punishment for sin, then God (God the Father) would not have sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ on the cross for your sins. That is how much He loved you. God (i.e. the Son, the creator of the universe) died for you because He did not want to see you perish. If we truly knew the depths of Jesus’ love for us, it would bring us to our knees more and more each day. For the Lord Jesus was whipped horribly and beaten horribly, and crucified to a cross for us. He died for us so that we might have eternal life with Him. The Lord Jesus Christ did not want us to be in fear of Him that would last forever. The fear of God is only temporary. It is a fear of something that we did wrong against God. But this fear fades away when we admit (by prayer) to the Lord Jesus Christ that we have sinned against Him, and we ask Him to forgive us. This fear fades when we believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He was risen three days later for our salvation. This fear fades when we surrender our lives to Jesus and live to follow Him, and obey His commands. For with the Lord, the benefits of the good far outweigh anything that this world has to offer.

I have three children and I want a relationship with them because I love them. If they do not want a relationship with me someday that would make me immensely sad, but I would not threaten them to keep them in a relationship they do not want because I do love them. I don't have that option with the Christian God.

My life is not in darkness, nor do I have cosmic sins that I need to atone for. I am not tainted or evil or lost or etc. I am a person that has done good and bad things. The bad things I do I ask for forgiveness from the people I have hurt and try to forgive people that have hurt me. I will not bow down to your unsubstantiated accusations that I am somehow less than or deficient in some manner. I believed that for too long.

Yes, and that would be a substantiated fear based on reality. A good fear if you want to remain alive. A fear that may lead to actually solving the problem.

Godly fear leads to a life in tune with God’s plan and purposes in loving God and others. There is no fear of death, and or what others can do to you, if you truly trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. A $50,000 fine for speeding is immoral. It is not justice. Torture in hell for eternity is immoral and not justice either. The punishments do not fit the crime.

I know the gospel message. I believe it to be an immoral message. I am not against punishment, I am for fair punishment for crimes that are clearly defined. Provide evidence that your God exists then we can talk about His requirements of me.

For with the Lord, the benefits of the good far outweigh anything that this world has to offer.
I found the opposite to be true.

I have three children and I want a relationship with them because I love them. If they do not want a relationship with me someday that would make me immensely sad, but I would not threaten them to keep them in a relationship they do not want because I do love them. I don't have that option with the Christian God.

Human to God analogies only go so far. We are talking about the Creator and Savior of all mankind here and not a human parent and children relationship.

You said:
My life is not in darkness, nor do I have cosmic sins that I need to atone for. I am not tainted or evil or lost or etc.

I used to be an atheist, too. I also denied His existence at one point in time. But God has an interesting way of opening up our eyes to His existence. For me: It was love. God used love in my life to guide me to Him.

You said:
I am a person that has done good and bad things. The bad things I do I ask for forgiveness from the people I have hurt and try to forgive people that have hurt me. I will not bow down to your unsubstantiated accusations that I am somehow less than or deficient in some manner.
I believed that for too long.

Sometimes we have to come to the end of ourselves before we can admit the truth of God and His Word. It takes time for some to admit the truth. But all are without excuse of His existence (Romans 1:20).

Well we will just have to agree to disagree.

Try praying about it with the Lord and ask you to see what the big deal is about on this issue or topic, and God will reveal it to you.
