By defenition, it isn't real nor do either of the series deal with real things. Its all made up. So what does it matter that the made up things aren't exactly like the other made up things?

This is why I think its so stupid that people have such an issue with sparkling vampires, they aren't even real, why does anyone care that Stephanie Meyer decided to create her own take on vampires? Its not like Blade and Underworld didn't do the same thing. /rant

I disagree; their is some amount of truth in every myth. I would be cautious saying that the folkloric definition of a vampire is completely accurate; far more cautious would I be to deny their existence at some point.
