  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Since it was Donald Trump's rhetoric that led to the assassination attempts, there is no reason for the left to apologize
Of course, that is the kind of response that I have been reading and hearing in the left wing media and also here on the forums. In my opinion, that line of left wing reasoning demonstrates the point which my fellow conservatives and I have been making concerning this topic.

Thank God your opinion is just an opinion and carry much weight.

Many times it is the targets fault for painting the bullseye on themselves. Just telling it like it is.
Biden painted the bullseye. He told us all he did. You could deny that I suppose. But you would make me laugh if you did. The only question would be whether 'sharp as a tack Biden' did that or the current Biden did that.

So go out and vote! Just don’t vote for an evil candidate. Your candidate is in favor of killing innocent human beings in the womb? You can’t vote for that other candidate but you somehow can vote for a person in favor of killing innocent human beings in the womb? Can’t you find ANYONE else to vote for? That to me sounds like an epic fail. You are willing to vote for the political party of hitmen (pope Francis’ words) thinking that isn’t evil?

At least I get to vote for a decent candidate with a decent platform in voting for Sonski. Can’t you do that?
I think the point Pope Francis was making is that if Catholics--and all people of good faith--study and pray and make an informed vote who is he to judge?
I remember being at Mass in October, 2016, seated behind the organ, and hearing a conversation between two wonderful men. One was clearly in a dilemma. He felt like he was "required" to vote for Trump. Being a retired psychologist, he believed that no one like Trump should be anywhere near the Oval Office.
And then the pastor read an article from US Catholic in which the pope was quoted saying the Church should inform consciences, not replace them.
No judgments, criticism, name-calling. One Body.
I do not criticize decisions people make in conscience.
There is so much need we are called to different mission fields, and our callings shape our priorities. The pro-choicers I know love the poor and marginalized so much they could not support policies which abandon them in their need.
I accept your conscience and am sure your candidate's other policies give you some sleepless nights. I worry, too, but my vote is consistent with the needs God has placed in my heart. To relate my response to you to the original post, Harris voters are people with the principles I laid out--and Pope Francis concurred with.
He told is voting is our civic duty---as do Democrats at every rally.

Yeah, this is the same logic as "If she hadn't have worn that outfit she wouldn't have got raped."

You may have provided the show stopper to all the victim blamers.
