• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm having a hard time now. I posted in the anxiety section, but there is no one there. I feel really anxious. I have ocd really bad and it seems it is worse lately. My aunt passed away this week, my mother took a serious fall, my husband and I are fighting, and my kids won't listen to me. I just started having an anxiety attack 15 minutes ago and I'm worried about dying and I just took a klonopin so I'm hoping that will help. Please help me.

I think the medication will help when your body refuses to relax. I have had a tough few weeks as well with my obsessional thoughts. One of things I found helpful from gracealone's advice is to remember that with this disorder your brain does not respond appropriately to thoughts which is why we have so much intense anxiety over thoughts. Even if you feel horrible anxiety over your obsessional thoughts (dying, religious, etc.) they are still NOT VALID. The anxiety we feel doesn't make them true or valid. The OCD just tries to make you buy into them more bc of the anxiety. But regardless of the anxiety they are still not valid. Also try breathing exercises. Inhaling and exhaling very slowly and deeply through your nose about 20 times can help you calm down and re-focus. Always remember, the OCD anxiety is a lie.
