• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was just wondering if anyone could post on here verses that help them. I have been doing things a certain way for a while now because it has been working and helping rebuild who I am in Christ and draw me closer to God. But I feel like I need to move up now to where I am specifically apply verses to my life and putting them in memory, to draw from when I need them.
I was wondering if anyone has "power" verses they use to help them in certain areas. I am going to look some up myself but i'm curious what ones work for you guys.

New International Version 2 Corinthians 10:5
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

The King James Version says it this way....
"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

This is the verse that helped me when I was going through my worst siege of OCD back in my twenties. It helped me understand & remember that I couldn't "reason" my way out of my thoughts when they assailed me. They had to be "cast down" not "argued or reasoned with."

Thanks Kaykay for the verse, that was powerful! I am definetly putting that in my power verse list. I know why you used that verse when things were the worst, it really helps. I decided to have 2 lists. A short one that I can carry around and read from in hard moments, ones that specifically target fear and anxiety. And a longer list for reading every night to build up faith and Gods forgiveness.
Thanks Zingiber, I am going to look those up sometime this week. I have recently really been hammering verses on forgiveness. I was hammering on verses that would build faith since i was having constant doubts. But those are waning and I want to really get it in my heart that I am forgiven no matter what, not just sins I can control but especially about these thoughts and feelings I really can't stop.
