  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This thread appears to be dead...as does the whole Vegetarian section actually...:(

I need to go research what foods contain Iodine....seeing as there is a lot of people with Iodine deficiency in Australia, noteably pregnant women (which I am hoping to become!, pregnant, not Iodine deficient)

Hmm not really...I'm too paranoid buying sushi from most places that sell it, they aren't too careful with their rice/keep it shoved up against fishy sushi...and so on

Maybe I could make some at home, in a way I'd enjoy :D

Thanks Evangelina :p

Hello. Just found this forum. Cool, I'm vegetarian.:amen:

Hi

I was at a function last night for my fave NRL team (SouthSydney) and they passed around trays of various shaped things in pastry... I decided to pass on having any- who knows what was in them! One or two might have been veg...but I have been caught out before with stuff I thought was vego and turned out to be full of meat :o

I wonder if to eat meat you have to be willingto have...mystery meat? ^_^

Hi everybody! I have been a vegetarian for about 3 years now, since the second semester of my freshman year in college. I have eaten meat since then but for the most part am a vegetarian.

Currently I am a lacto vegetarian, maybe even a lacto-ovo vegetarian (I usually do not eat eggs though, unless it is in a food that someone made for me).

It would be very easy for me to become vegan, except for the fact that I don't know if I could give up yogurt!

They make some great vegan yogurts now!

Thank you guys!! xxx

Cygnus, whereabouts are you?

My six year old daughter and is veggie too - the funny thing is that she made the decision of her own accord - she is very wise, bless her, to work out that animals were dying and she made the choice to stay away from meat without any input from me or her stepfather (who is almost totally veggie). The meatfree alternatives available today are so, so much better than they were when I became veggie in 1989. You could go into a pub/restaurant for dinner and be sneered at, and the best they could offer you to eat was a stale cheese sandwich!!

In the early 90's, I was flying to Miami, when the air steward made a big fuss - I had ordered a vegetarian meal and the order had not got through, so they gave me a kosher one and told me to pick the meat out of it. HeeHee!

When I was expecting my son in 1994, my inlaws were horrified that I was to maintain my veggie lifestyle. They told me that the baby would suffer - but imagine their surprise when he arrived at a very healthy 9lbs!!

These days, his shoes are too big for me ;-)

Great to be with you guys. God bless!!

My favorite tabloid headline ever: "Vegetarian Gives Birth To Green Baby!" ^_^ :D
