  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know this thread is old, but to those seeking info and encouragement on VBAC's I thought I'd respond. My first was a c-section due to a failed induction. With my second, my very unsupportive doctors told me my hips were too small, my scar was too thin, anything to make me feel like I wouldn't be able to deliver vaginally and that I should just schedule a c/s. SO, I got a second opinion and guess what...all those negative comments were thrown out the window! My new doctor was very encouraging and my second was born vaginally with no issues. Even though I tore, the recovery was cut in half for what it was with the c/s! Now I'm on number three and will be going for VBAC2 with the same encouraging doctor. If you get negatives about attempting a VBAC, get a second or third opinion! Good luck!

Thanks for your encouraging post. This is really what I'm most concerned with and my main reason for hoping for a vaginal birth when I have another baby. My recovery was SO difficult with my son. It took me so long to feel normal again and to even be able to exercise without pain. I'm sure it was topped off by the fact that my husband didn't get to take off work so I was stuck alone with a baby and a giant gash in my stomach. :p. Did you do anything special to get ready for your VBAC or did you just go with a supportive doctor? :)

Here in the States, it's the Doctor's call, not the hospital's, on what you can and can't do for your birth. I'd check into that and see if it's the same in Australia...
It actually varies from hospital to hospital here. For example, my midwives are fine with VBA2C but the hospital only allows VBACs after 1 c/s.

I made sure I was in shape by doing aerobic excercise and my doctor performed perineal massage for a good portion of the hard labor. Most importantly, I prayed everyday for a normal birth with no complications and held faith in God that he would make that happen. Even though other doctors were trying to scare me out of a VBAC, I had peace about it from God. I ended up with my preferred doctor (very supportive about VBAC's) and had a perfect delivery! There is actually less of a chance of something going wrong with a VBAC than with a C/S. Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers!

Do you sell hug a bub baby slings where you work?
No, we sell Bubzilla and Bubba Moe as well as the Baby Bjorn and Ergo Carriers.
The Bubzilla is great, its the one i am going to get.
You should come in and try them on, we even have a doll for you to use so you know what it feels like with the weight of a baby in it.
