There is alot of media in the world that is questioning the validity of the Bible
Genesis vs Evolution...
New Testament vs Da Vinchi Code and various other forms of media that is sowing doubt. For instance.. Some say that the New Testament (And Bible) was written to control the masses, other says thatthe New Testament was written 400 years later by Roman Catholic Priests. The way of thinking here is: Who can remember anything correctly after 400 years?
I know it is all about believe, but there are people who think differently.
Something that bothers me personally is the translation from Hebrew & Greek to English. Do they realy got it right? Customs change over time and the missplacement of a single word can change the whole meaning...

I believe the Bible is inerrant because God looks out for it. I understand your worries about the accuracy of translations, there are so many of them. There are a lot of people who study the Bible in hebrew/greek, and as such I believe that if there were major errors in any of the major translations, there would be a lot of noise about it, here on the forums too. That's not to say that there aren't disagreements regarding interpretations.

True, people with a negative view of the Bible probably won't start reading it, but there are other ways to reach them. Just by following Jesus' teachings we can arouse interest in others, and most missionary work is done by "talking" instead of reading.

Sure I believe its inerrant. Its just.. Theres people whos dear to me who doesnt, and I dont always quite know how to answer them. Actually,, I dont think any amount of words is going to change their oppinion coz its SET. (I tried a bit..) like the guy who lived next to the erupting volcano who refused to move - he's dead now
...And that is what desturbs me.
I never read into those kind of media I mentiond, coz I know it to be untrue. Sadly now I dont have enough info to lay it out to them. I think differently. The best I can do at this stage I guese is pray.
In the meantime I can read up about such deception.

Have you ever read a good and informative book on Church history? It's fascinating, and the more you read, the more the answers dissolve those questions. If you don't know, you will always ponder... so get to the bottom of it. Also, don't forget to read up on the Church Fathers and what they wrote, because they were eye witnesses to much of what happened. The Church put the Bible together, but the writings were around a lot longer than that. There are many manuscripts that were scattered all over, and yet they matched up with each other, and no changes except maybe an occasional misspelling, or something. Nothing to worry about. It is an amazing thing how the Bible was put together, and we still have it to this day.

The way I think about it is like so:

First up, there are translation errors made by man. God wrote the original Bible, and as such it is flawed. Secular media loves to pick up things out of context and make them shocking. I would always, always keep this thought in your mind when dealing with things like this: "Christianity is a relationship between you and God."

In that light, talk to God about these things, not to man, as man will sway you to his way of thinking, which could be in error.

Secondly, in regards to Creation vs Evolution and Biblical inconsistencies and all the so called problems with the Bible, this is what I think. Please pay particular note to the question about the Bible.

At the end of the day, when you stand before God, he doesn't give you a quiz and ask, "Prove to me, that I created for 70 pts." or "Show me with logic, how you refuted Evolution for 25pts"

He will instead, look into your heart, and judge your soul. Your soul has no need for the above knowledge, it needs purity, love, compassion, patience, wisdom and faith.

I often wonder just how terrified an unsaved soul must be before God, when their entire man-made world and belief is snuffed out in an instant or pure realisation...

Not only are your concerns understandable.....they are fully justified.

First of all we do need to look at who was translating the Bible and when......how many times have men leaning towards their own understanding been interpretating the word of God.....

Who can define they where given wisdom by the spirit to divide the word of God correctly....the answer is nobody........

Now Jerome Translated from Greek into Latin around 400 AD, by the order of Pope Damascus.

This of course in no way means that Jerome was given wisdom by the spirit to divide the word of God correctly...as you mentioned 400 years seperates the original Authors of the NT from himself.

Pope Damascus ordered the translation be done because the language of the empire was changing, from Greek to Latin......

This however in no way means that the NT was correctly transliterated from Greek into Latin..... so yes your concerns are Valid.

In fact you concerns are so Valid, about bibles that have contradicted themselves for hundreds of years....that it was only in recent history.... the last 2 centuries where scholars have gone back to copies of the original Greek the NT was written in.... re examined them to publish New translations of the Bible.

These days people are no longer burned at the stake for having a copy of the scriptures on them, or for having an alternative translation from the Latin Vulgate...around 400 AD.

One group of scholars went as far as not only going back to the original Greek and transliterating directly into English....they set for themselves translation principles that did not allow for any doctrinal influence or concensus of popular opinion creep into their transliteration from Greek into English.

They just translated what was written in the Original Greek.....into English, the correct word....for the correct word.... no compromise....

It appears to me that unitynlove was addressing the OP, and not you,
mostly from the use of the pronoun "they" -probably meaning those who promote the Da Vinci code.

Its correct a lot of the bible contains falsehoods,mistakes , there's been editing in the bible, koran, and any other holy book you find around the world.

In the end bibles are written by people, and people make mistakes, it was even written by the apostels themselves that not even all the books written in the world would be sufficient to write down all the things and events that happend during the time when jesus preached his teachings.

From this alone you can already conclude that the bible is not complete. Lets put it like this, if you watch a video on youtube, and then you have to tell to someone in words what you saw, are your words sufficient to describe what happend?

Absolutely not, its actually laughable that we think that the bible could give an accurate description of Jesus, let alone God. God is SO MUCH MORE then just a few words on paper, yet few seem to understand this.

A great example is Genesis, did Adam and Eve really happen? Where they really the first people? Someone who is a hardcore christian would litterary take the bible by every word spoken in it. But as in my youtube example this can never be accurate, in fact Genesis never took place, in order for us to understand Genesis we have to go back to the time when it was written, during those times only a few people could read, let alone write.

So how do you explain God to people who cannot read and cannot write? Genesis was a methaphorical way to explain God to the people who had no idea how the earth was created, who barely had a sense of time on how long this earth existed, and had absolutely no clue to understand the powers that may be.

I mean go figure, even today people commit murders in the name of allah and wage wars in the name of a holy koran, and not so long ago christians did the same with the holy bible.

Wars and suffering were not created by God, but are the creation of the human race, out of fear and hatred.God had created the human form to look different from each other, so that we would learn to increase our love for all kinds of forms.

Its worse in the old testament then in the new testament , but the new testament is still pretty bad. How many people where present when the ressurection took place has been altered many times for political convienance , also many people take the teachings of the apostals for granted, i always give the advice only to listen to Jesus and not to the apostals, because most people just blindly agree to what the apostals say, without taking in aspect that 'an apostal is not the son of god = therefore more poorly informed then Jesus' its asif we say 'the apostals know just as much as jesus = wrong interpretation' , Jesus was far more spiritually advanced then they where , so the teachings that they bring out of themselves are to be approuched in a cautious manner to say the least. Especially Paul is notorious for his dreadfull teachings. He persecuted Jesus and then pretended afterwards to know everything about him, his writings are based on old Jewish teaching instead that of Jesus, namely woman needing to wear headscarves, men needing to have beards, making many people unhappy for stating that gay sexuality is a sin , while in reality its not a sin but horribly misinterpreted, the whole men should have short hair and woman long hair is another one of his useless contributions, and i have to stop talking about him because Paul angers me to no extend. There's a lot missing in the bible, the gospel of Judas for instance. And so on and so on.

But should we discard the bible just because of the countless of errors that are in it? Nope , we need to take a step back and look at what the bible does.

The bible brings us to a higher level of spiritual understanding. A bible should not be read litterary, or read in order to find mistakes in it.

The correct way to read a bible is to read it prayerfully and then it will talk back to you.

The verdict is that the bible contains spiritual truths. Namely that Jesus is the road to salvation. When you do that, then you are on the right path. I disregard pauls teachings since they are old testament rules, which have become absolete after the teaching of Jesus.
