  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know yet. We briefly discussed V Day awhile back but so far haven't made any set plans. He has to work at the symphony that weekend, so I might go listen and watch him work that night. But I'm not sure what night we're actually going to for real celebrate.

I was thinking about getting him some running shoes, but I'm still not totally sure on that. I have no clue what he's doing for me or how big of a holiday it's going to be to celebrate, and I don't want to overdo. ^_^ I'm torn.

Also my first V. Day with a boyfriend. :)

There is some awkwardness to it all.

Melissa and I know a ton about eachother because of how long we've been talking. But it was even awkward for us because both of us have (and still have to some extent) this fear that we where going to send a little dinky gift and our partner was going to send us something expensive.

It helps though that we set a relative budget on gifts.

That is good. I know for Christmas he gave me WAY more than I gave him, but he also knew that he was going to ahead of time and wanted it that way. Honestly, I don't care for myself if I give him something more expensive than he gives me, but I know it will really bother him if that happens. On the other hand I don't want to get him something really small if he is going to spend more money on me...but I also don't want him to feel like he HAS to spend a lot of money on me. I should probably just honestly ask him how much he thinks we should spend on each other.

I also thought of making him a mix CD but I'm afraid that's a little cheesy. I should just do it, though...V. Day gives a good excuse to be cheesy, right? And I know he loves it when I mention that a certain song reminds me of him.

I spent more on Melissa then she spent on me for Christmas as well. However a lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm working full time and she's a full time student.

It might be a good idea to ask him about budgets. Even though I know Melissa doesn't have the funds to do it, for some reason I had this fear in the back of my head that I was going to like send her just a box of chocolates and some flowers or something like that and then would walk outside to see my brand new car that Melissa bought me. :D (You understand what I mean)

We're being sappy with our gifts as well so I think it would probably be a good way to go.

As far as I know we don't have anything official planned. FH works 2 jobs, and he works 6 am-2 pm on Valentine's today at one job, and the schedule for the second job is not out yet and they're not allowed booking Valentine's off (it is a restaurant!)

But..
FH turns 23 tomorrow, Feb. 4 and my best friend on the 6th, so Friday we are going to the city to a new restaurant (my friend and I went once, it was GREAT), fine dining. We're probably going to a movie too.

On the weekend, FH and I went to the city to see Hotel for Dogs and New in Town so that was a major date as well.

I'm so excited about our plans. Saturday morning he has a surprise planned for me. He said he will probably pick me up about 8 to go do whatever it is we'll be doing. However we should be back around lunch. Then he'll go home and we're both gonna get all dressed up to go out for dinner at Olive Garden. We've only ever been to Olive Garden twice in the year-and-a-half we've been dating, and we've never really planned to get super dressed up, so I am REALLY looking forward to it. And I am dying to know where he is taking me in the morning and what we'll be doing. But I can definitely wait. It'll be worth it!

My fiancée and I are going with her parents to her family's cabin up in the mountains and I bought her an iPod Nano with an inscription on the back "For my beloved Brandy, Proverbs 31: 9-31"

I'm also getting her a shirt from a clothing company I'm doing business with so that should make a nice little package. Then the morning of I'm going to make her waffles :D

Oh snap, score! DS's are tight, I have a blast with those.

Well, the waffles thing didn't work out cause we've both been under the weather (her for a couple days, me for the last week). Bummer. I ended up cooking her dinner, then we went and got coffee and came home to watch "You've Got Mail", heh. She liked her iPod Nano :D

Well he ended up not being able to carry out his surprise plan yesterday, because it was raining. He had planned to take me flying. A man at his church has his pilot's license and was going to take us, but it didn't work out. We still had an absolutely wonderful time last night though. Got dressed up and were going to go to this nice Japanese restaurant, but the wait there was 2 hours! So we went across the road and had a blast at Logan's (a steakhouse). I THOUGHT I wanted a quiet semi-fancy dinner, but I had more fun there where the music was loud and you throw your roasted peanut hulls right onto the floor. :) After that we rode around for a bit and then came back to my house to exchange cards and gifts. He loved everything I gave him, especially the collage, and his cards were incredibly sweet and meaningful. I absolutely was thrilled over the basket he gave me with great smelling bodywash, some foot scrub, a pair of moisturizing super-soft toe socks, and bedtime lotion in it. The lotion is called Silk Pajamas and it smells like Fruit Loops :). Can't wait to try it out!
I know that was long, but I guess I just wanted to share. Hope everyone had a great day as well!
