Valentines Day [mostly meaningless rant]

No, I'm not bitter.... uh... yeah!!

Now, on to the beef.

I think Valentines Day is horrible. I wish everyone would just stop acting so cheery and go back to their normal routines already. To make matters worse, Valentines Day is still 11 days away. It's like 'National Show Off That You're In A Relationship Week As Prelude To Valentines Day' or something.

I've only been in a relationship once in the history of my life, during Valentines Day, and as ironic as it may be, I was the only one who remembered. The girl I was with completely forgot. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around! I am so sick of this time of year.

This ends my MMR (Mostly Meaningless Rant). I hope you do not take me too seriously, as I know it is so tempting to do.

I hate Valentine's day too - would I feel differently if I was dating? probably LOL!!! I call it national singletons day - a day to celebrate your singleness rather than a day to mope about it!!! LOL. it's a consumer driven holiday, where people spend lots of money on complete rubbish - it's pointless. Although if i got a card this year I would be quite happy!!!

At my office, of the three women that sit around me, two are married and the other one has 90 guys that like her. I couldn't avoid v-day if i tried. I work until 8pm so i wouldn't have time for a date anyway.

I'm not going to get angry or insulted or upset just because some people are doing special things that day and I'm not. What would getting upset prove? I hate Valentines day. I've had one good Valentine's day and it was really good, now i'm just sad that I can't have that again this year. This Valentine's day I have been asked to dogsit; that's right, DOGSIT. So i'll be doing that, and my roommate and I are having a huge single girls party where the "theme" is God loves you. We are going to decorate little heart cakes and play silly games and read scripture. It may sound corny and pathetic , but oh well it's better than sitting around and moping about it. Plus it'll remind us that God loves us more than anything on a day where I know I will have a hard time feeling like anyone loves me.

When I do feel down about being single, I try to do something for someone else who has it worse than i do. Last year I went and handed out valentines at a nursing home and visited some of the residents on Valentines day. I can't say it made me feel tons and tons better, but I liked loving on a group of people that is larely forgotten at holidays year after year. It made them feel better and that was what was important.

I would be happy if I got a card, too... my ex will probably send me one, she's obsessed with cards. But other than that....

I even sent cards and roses to others and as a single person I plan a special evening just for He and I. I absolutely love Valentines day!
