  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I will consider getting my flu shot next year. I did not realize that I might be contributing to the problem by holding out.
Well, the only incentive I have for getting the flu shot is to not get sick. It's just unproductive for me not to get the flu shot. If I don't get sick, then I don't have to take time off from work.

The flu shot is a bit of a crap shoot. There's multiple strains of influenza, and every year the CDC does analysis and figures out which strain is most likely to be spread around and the vaccine for that strain(s) is used. So even though you get the shot, you could still get a strain that isn't protected against by the vaccine. But there's really no reason to specifically NOT get the vaccine.

Yeah, that I was aware of. I just hear so much about overuse of antibiotics, I assumed vaccinating against the rapidly-changing flu virus could have the same effect.

Maybe I was just making excuses because I hate needles.

The flu vax is generally only given to people considered at risk for this reason... this is also the reason why a new one is required every year...

its not a guarantee you won't get sick, all it is supposed to do is protect you from what is suspected to be the most virulent and/or widespread 'flu virus of the season

Evidently you don't understand the English they're speaking.
I guess not.

So some guy says he say Bohemian grove and the clinton's naked.

Thats not the same as having a photo of it.

I mean, theres a guy on the corner screaming he saw elephants coming out of the sewers... it doesn't make it true.

Why do you believe THIS guy any more than the elephant guy?

Nah, afaik that sort of thing doesn't really happen with vaccines. Technically it could happen, but I don't think it happens nearly as easily. But then again, we don't issue many vaccinations on a wide scale. A vaccine teaches your body to defend against a disease by itself. Antibiotics kill a given infection on its own, applying direct selective pressure to a population of existing bacteria.

Plus antibiotics aren't disease specific like vaccines are. Antibiotics target bacteria in general. So it's more likely for their to be a strain resistant against an antibiotic than a vaccine, and you can inadvertently be strengthening all bacteria in a given host if antibiotics are used improperly.
