Users Being Logged Out

Seems unless you check the box to keep you logged in - it wont let you stay on no matter what browser you are using.

IE doesn't work any better for me than Firefox. And the check box has been completely useless for at least six months now.

OK, for anyone having trouble, try signing in through a proxy server like freeproxyserver.net. It isn\'t a perfect solution as you have no formatting options in your posts and it dumps extra characters in, etc. So it ain\'t pretty. But at least you can stay logged in for longer. Hope that helps.

I\\\'ve not been able to get on for 3 days, just now got on (kind of) through freeproxyserver.net. I tried clearing cache and everything. I appreciate the work trying to get the problem resolved. Any idea when it will be normal again?

Edit: I\'m not on Firefox, by the way. I am able to get on using my mother\'s computer which has a linux operating system, if that makes a difference.

the checking box has worked for me...otherwise it wont even let me log in...so what's up with that?

You must check the box to stay logged in. Can't make it one page now unless you check it under all the browsers.

I check the check box every time I log in, just out of habit. It\'s never helped me once on IE or Firefox. In fact I\'ve purposefully even tried it a few times without checking it, and it\'s made no difference whatsoever. It\'s like the server doesn\'t even recognize whether I use it or not. Nilla, thanks for bringing it to staff attention. I\'ve also discussed it with Green Munchkin and she\'s been discussing it with staff. Sounds like tech staff is understaffed right now, so it could be quite some time before anyone can look into this.

Has there been any up date on this matter? I still know a few who have to keep signing in for every page they go to. They are getting tired of doing this and may keep them away. Please, can someone check this out? They have even checked the box and it does not help. They use IE.

This is becoming a big problem for an increasing number of members. It definitely has to do with IP addresses. I know that this issue is affecting more and more members, and if the webmaster takes no action to fix the problem it will lead to less and less active members as time goes on.

Yes, I agree it's got to be an IP address issue. But there must be a fix for it as all the other forums I'm on don't have this problem at all.

I think they must be working on it, because I can now stay logged in for a few minutes at a time without the proxy server.

I'm sure it'll be a tricky problem to solve, considering it's affected a bunch of members, and they all have different IP adresses. It only happened to me after CF went down for maintenece a few weeks ago, so apparently whatever code was edited had a side effect of locking some users out of their profiles.

Purely speculation on my part, but the information might lead someone to get an idea on how to solve the issue.

Exactly, that's why I think we need to post any info we have in this thread to help them out.
And yes, I agree the major problems started with the recent system maintenance a few weeks ago. But for me it's been a problem to a lesser degree ever since CF2 came online. I'd really love to see it solved. Actually I seem to be able to stay logged in for longer and longer periods of time today. yay!

Cool! For me on my other computer, I can barely log on. It takes me to that page that says 'Thanks for logging in, NFF' and then it brings me back to the CF homepage totally logged out. Very frustrating.

Is this issue getting any attention from the powers that be?

I don't get booted back to the homepage, but I most often but I've found that as soon as I logged in, I got that same login message page, and then it would redirect to the previous page, but still not logged in.

OK, I think I've been signed in for close to an hour now, and it hasn't booted me off once. That's amazing!!! Big thanks to whoever made that happen!!

I've also put a message in my siggy for people to come to this thread if they're having problems as we are. Hopefully that will help staff to sort this out as well.

The situation has improved on my home computer. I have now been logged on for 15 minutes or so. Good job guys.

I'm not getting logged out anymore so this post might be pointless. But when I did get logged out it was with IE not firefox.

I think it's pretty much back to the way it was before the recent system maintenance. So I still get logged out, but it's back to every 20 minutes or so instead of seconds.

I am getting logged out about 30% of the time when I press the User CP button or when I submit a response to a post. I am using IE8. This just started happening this week.
