Be salt and light to those who do not know Christ. If the US were truly Babylon then scripture has already said you should "come out of Babylon".

I don't think America is Babylon. Americans aren't drunk on the blood of Christians, though some may hate them, they certainly don't kill them like they do in China or in the Middle East where they literally crucify them. That kind of thing would score a 13 on the cultural Richter Scale if it took place in America.

Could America become Babylon? Possibly, but I find it extremely unlikely.

Mother of Abominations/Prostitutes/harlots could mean that they are home to every sin imaginable, where it is commonly accepted, embraced, and even desired. But that's my two cents.

Well, the point is well made. That we haven't killed the saints in mass numbers. That reminds me of Rome. But on the other hand weve spread our culture of moral abandon, through the world. Interesting.

I was at a prayer meeting last night, well, this was around 4AM this morning, but anyway, we were praying about the whole hurricane thing, and I was lead to read the scripture in Revelation about Babylon, particularly where the Lord tells the people to rejoice over her destruction:

The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, and saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! 'For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.' Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, 'What is like this great city?' Don't get me wrong here -- I'm not saying New Orleans was Babylon. What I am saying is that it's the same spirit. After last night I'm beginning to think Babylon is not a city or a country at all, but the spirit of the world.

A Great City Who Says She is No Widow

Drunk With the Blood of the Saints

Conclusion

We must use the Bible to interpret the Bible biblically. . . not the political landscape of our world to try to expose Mystery Babylon. We are not to use the "signs of the times", the newspaper, or our favorite prophecy teachers to interpret Bible prophecy.

Jerusalem is only one according to Jesus that is responsible for all of the deaths of all the prophets and all of the apostles and all of the saints. Jesus said God's vengeance would come against that people, in that generation. They would be judged for spilling all the righteous blood shed on earth. In fact, if all the blood of all the prophets was against them (and the office of prophet no longer exists) then the Babylonian harlot of Revelation 18 no longer exists. Why did this have to happen???


"In that He says, A new [covenant], he has made the first [the Old Covenant] old. . . and is ready to vanish away"
Heb 8:13

The Old Covenant System began to vanish away with the sacrifice of Christ and was completely destroyed when Jesus came (in judgment) to destroy the temple as he promised. Because of this, we are now in the Kingdom of God's dear Son . . . never to be shaken or removed (Hebrews 12:28; Col 1:13) ! ! !

Preach the gospel of truth so that your master will find you doing what he commanded you to do when he comes, that way you will be considered a faithful servant.
