We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Because the First Amendment protects us too, especially as Christianity is losing membership in this country, and we don't want to set a precedent that minority religions can be restricted.

Practicing Saranism leads to hell. Why would any Christian be okay with other people going to hell like that??

Is Christianity even worth defending if we have to defend Satanism alongside of it?

The Constitution forbids state endorsement of religion. That's worth defending.

Why? Is religion an idea not worth endorsing or enshrining into the state?

Which religion gets endorsed or enshrined though? What happens to the people who aren't part of that religion when they try to legislate based on their faith. What happens to the members of the "official" religion when the state tries to tell them how they can or can't worship or tries to mandate what they believe? Separation of Church and State is important for both Church and State.

What happens to non Christian religions? They are disfavoured politically and socially. Is there a problem with this idea?

What happens when Christians are no longer the majority religion? Or the "wrong" type of Christianity takes hold of the government. The early US had theocracies, and saw the damage they could do, which is why the First Amendment was instituted.

Satanism is not tolerant. If it becomes the leading religion, it would criminalize other religions.

You mean like will be in the not to distance future? IF your argument is that the current system protect Christianity and Christians, how does it do that given demographic decline of Christians in the USA? Not even just the USA but any western Liberal country?

How does the current system in the US benefit Christianity instead of undermine it? I would compare the status of Christians in the US to approaching a Dhimmi status under secular liberalism. Christians at the moment are finding themselves able to express their faith publically less and less. Doesn't sound all that great to me.

I literally do the daily office everyday in the nearby public park. There is no difficulty expressing my faith. Christians aren't given freedom to ignore laws that apply to everybody, but that's not undermining Christianity. And it protects Christians by not allowing the religious minority to pass laws against them.

So Christian Hospitals in the future will be protected from having to provide abortion and transgender surgery options? Or what about bakers who refuse to make specific cakes in favour of Homosexuality?

You have an optimistic view but in time it'll be eventually destroyed as the left makes more overtures agaisnt Christianity in the public space. I don't mean just privately, but in terms of government property and the like. If you want to advocate for a completely de-christianized version of secular government, you are ultimately advocating against your own interest if you wish to see Christianity flourish.

If am wrong, why hasn't Christianity flourished under the system as it currently stands?

It's based on anecdotal readings of the news and seeing the direction western society is going. Don't worry, as a progressive Catholic you're fine, you're a dissident within Catholicism reforming it from within the inside. You'll be fine and free to speak your conscience.

If one does not serve the one true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent they are already serving Satan (as their own god) to whichever degree. Just as we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, others are the temple of the spirit of the world. Even in Revelation it shows people are still worshiping devils, so its something that will just be here regardless of whether christians do not approve. The two will exist together until the end.

Kiwi, what if for some wild instance, evangelical Protestants become the selected religion and do something like this?

Back in my hometown of Cincinnati during the April 1855 elections, the Know Nothings party nominated a slate of candidates with James Taylor, the populist anti-immigrant and anti-Catholic editor of the Cincinnati Times, as candidate for mayor. Taylor's inflammatory attacks on immigrants caused rising tension in the city, with fighting breaking out on election day. The day after, a mob of nativists attacked the German Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, causing a riot in which several men died. The mob managed to destroy the ballots in two German wards. The Germans organized into militia units, built a barricade across Vine Street, and successfully defended their territory. (PS... the Germans had a cannon!)

Just because there have been atheist regimes that have been horribly repressive doesn't mean that Christianity hasn't also been oppressive over the centuries.

Why then are you arguing secular progressivism is superior to Christianity and it's regimes or culture? DO you believe the moral prescriptions of Christianity are outdated and that believers in Christ simply cannot be trusted with power?

In the end, all you've done is argue for a the weakening of Christiantiy instead of any meaningful way to actually respond to progressive secularism. Tell me how you think this current western regime we live in benefits Christianity in the long run, instead of undermining and diminishing it?
