There are other creatures that reason and think in the abstract. Not at a human level, perhaps, but other primates are capable of reason and deductive thinking. In fact, apes are capable of abstract reasoning, and even higher monkeys like baboons are as well.

Hmm... a few years ago on some random online lecture note site (don't ask where, I have no idea) I read that falconids are also among the smartest birds. Anyone has any info on that?
