  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have always heard it is TWO months salary, but that is just a DeBeer's marketing ploy. Everyone should spend what they can afford without going into debt. My husband did not spend 2 months when he bought my original ring, nor did he when he bought my upgraded 5.5 ctw. ring.

I've heard and seen such a thing. I had a fairly large solitaire diamond when we got married. First of all, my ring finger doesn't fit it anymore. My hubby bought another, much smaller size diamond one. I like it better! It didn't snag on anything, and was a lot more pleasant to wear. We have kept the original, but the little one is my favorite, plus it didn't break the bank. :)

I love my engagement/wedding ring. I am glad my husband picked something out worth saving. It is special to me and I will not upgrade it if we are ever better off. But I suppose it depends on the heart of things. It sounds sort of shallow, but I guess if a woman has an extra small engagement ring because she really wanted to get married and later they can afford the one she always dreamed of, do what makes you happy. But I hope she cares enough to wear the old wedding ring on her right hand or something or put it in a necklace because it should have special meaning to it.
