So to be part of this community means one cannot have such possessions. . . and he has chosen his possessions over his community . . . too many things here to be simply coincidence. . . . have we all been played?
I think if that were true he would not have preempted the Church in announcing his resignation and telling us to no longer call him a priest, but merely John Corapi.
No, he would be allowed to keep his possessions. They don't require poverty. Thats not the issue. The issue is he chose to stay on his ranch rather than with the priesthood period. I suppose he wants justice too and that he figures he couldn't get that by staying in the community. He deserves justice.

A priest cannot speak publically while on suspension, that does not mean one stops calling them "father."If he is to be obedient, he has to ask you to no longer call him a priest because he cannot continue to speak publicly in that capacity.
His preaching and theology was sound. Nothing takes away from a message that is true. But when you speak truth, often people listen then they come to you and the temptation for pride is great. Fulton Sheen always guarded against it.
It seems here perhaps the enemy tempted with money and power and to outward appearances by his own actions it seems as though he stumbled and continues to persist in pride.
May the Lord guide him.
But his message, when in line with God's truth, is not his message but God's and the truth of it remains. Those who speak truth often get the temptation of power from the world others who speak it are attacked.
Leaving his possessions behind, giving them up . . the effect on his daily life is the same, no?
Did Jesus deserve what happened to Him?

Dave I think the book was in the works back in late 2009 or early 2010.
I think it will turn out in the end that this woman lied to the Local Ordinary of the SOLT:
I will not reveal her name in the threads.
Everyone BUT Jesus deserves what we get, except injustice.
Don't know if you have ever had to give up everything you own or not. I have a few times. Its never that easy.
All we have is his word. We can chose to believe it or not or wait. I'm on the part of the fence that is leaning heavily toward a psycho chick.I have no idea or way of knowing if she lied or told the truth. I just know his actions seem prideful. He has canonical measures he can take. And the Black Sheepdog thing is just off base to me.

His resignation has not yet been accepted. . but he has pre-empted the Church's decision and before the Church has accepted it, he has rejected being called father.
Prevented (hopefully only temporarily) from exercising that priesthood in a public manner during his suspension, he is aware of his obligation to be a witness to the truth and to continue to evangelize. He evidently intends to do so until his suspension is lifted not as Father John Corapi but as The Black Sheep Dog.
As a good sheep dog he will continue to try to protect the flock from the dangers of heresy, heterodoxy, and all other forms of untruth.

No one said it was easy . .the road is hard, the gate narrow that leads to life and few there be that find it.
Joab, yes, we are to give up seeking personal justice if we are follow Christ by taking up our cross, DENYING OURSELVES and following Him..
That means just that - FOLLOWING HIM in every way . . even allowing injustice against ourselves and being silent as a lamb in our reaction.
All we have is his word. We can chose to believe it or not or wait. I'm on the part of the fence that is leaning heavily toward a psycho chick.
What canonical measures does he have? He seems to have despaired of that process.
The sheepdog thing to me is a very human pity party by someone who has been thrown under the bus. Give it time.
It's asked what cannonical meaures does he have? Since he himself chopped them off at the knee by his civil suit, he is the onnly one to blame if he has none available to him.
He would if he dropped his civil suit, thys freeing up the witnesses to speak to the Church, and then the Church could clear his name. But until then, it is his fault this can't happen, and his fault solely.
canonical court then a series of appeals all the way to the CDC. He actually has availed himself of none of them in the three months and from what his superiors say...his reliance on the secular court before the ecclesiastical one has caused them to have to stop their work. Since when he brought the secular case they now can not interview the woman or anyone else who can tell them anything.
He gave the canonical process in 3 months after having interfered with it. That is a lack of patience to say the least in my opinion.
TLF, his faculties have been suspended and he has been asked not to speak publicly as a priest. Nowhere has it been said that he has been asked not to speak publicly in any manner.
As Bishop Gracida said, Father Corapi has been:
No, he is being obedient as he is honoring their command that he not speak publicly in his priestly capacity. It has nothing to do with rejection, as Bishop Gracida points out.
