  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Brandy was even more confused.
"People are looking for me? Who? And what could I possible have that they would want? I just lost my job so I have no money, I sold my apartment to pay for this plane ticket so don't even have a home or a vehicle; what could I possibly have that they would want?" she demanded.

ooc - good thing we can slow down the action in RPGs... but 3 days driving would only get Brandy and Nathen to... well, depends on the route, but from LA quickest to Langley would be southeast throught Nevada and Arizona (LOVE the Grand Canyon - wonderful views!!). Probably run I-15 to I-70 straight toward DC area. (I live near DC if we can stall the German's pursuers I can toss in some cool 'local flavor' for the end-rush to Langley... ;) ) We can have some car chases in the flatlands of Kansas?? (hint) Give Nathan and Brandy enough time to get comfortable and think they got away....

Of course if any of the action comes through anone's state maybe they could add some local color? That would be fun for us readers!! :)

Ken enjoyed this part of a mission. He always took pride in the simpler, easier costumes. they always blended in best....

He had left the envelope under the German's door - the tickets all paid for. Of course, by the time the, ahem. DONOR, of the tickets found out, this fox would nbe well ahead of his quarry and while the time limit (his client had mentioned an "expiration date" with a nasty smile) would be near, he was sure he could spare the German's life if it came to that. He had seen his client's hunters and had not been impressed - William, like Nathan, had been a top student and Ken had already enjoyed this much of the mission. He had his doubts about the others involved, not having seen much of them. He had learned much about patience in his life - it was serving him well now....

He returned to reading his paper -- too bad his boys from Syracuse had choked in the big dance, oh weel, at least with Boeheim he knew they would be back - he supposed he had learned much from watching his hometown team over these years...

He smiled and looked forward to backing up William on this next phase.

ooc - don't move this thing too fast - I'll be back on Monday to have the 'meeting' with the German and that should put us back in contact with NAthan, etc... and where did our lovely French lady go??

Nathan wasn't sure he liked his job. He wished he could just protect her and let the explaining go to someone else. He tried again "You are important for something you have. It doesn't matter what that is, just accept that you have it. I'm here to make sure it doesn't fall into anyone elses hands. In this case, that means protecting you. Understand you had little choice in the matter. The fact that you had nothing else of value made you an ideal candidate for it, though it seems no matter where it is taken, they always seem to find it." He stopped, searching for the words to continue.

Hewalked outside and when a coptried to stop him inthe parking lot he looked around and seeing no one broke te cops neck with 1 swift kick. he jumped onto his motorcycle strapped on his helmet and rode off.

Brandy began to panick.
"Why do I need protecting and from whom? How much danger am I in, exsactly and, if it's what I have that's drawing me into dangers grasp then are you supposed to protect me, or the object that was forced into my possesion? Because, if it's the object, then why don't you just take it and let me go?"

Lynn muttered a curse in french as she rose. Both the target and the man who blew the plane up had gone. Not knowing what to do next, but not about to let anyone see, she grabbed her bag and walked toward the information booth. There had to be a rental car here somewhere.

"The people after you will follow you whether I take the chip or not." he blurted, then realizing he had given away what it was he was protecting. After a moment of silence he continued. "The people looking for you have apparently found out who you are, and leaving with the chip would leave you without protection from whoever wants the chip. They don't care if you're dead, they'll kill you without hesitation if it means finding the chip." That was it, he thought, now she knew. Perhaps knowing changed little, for now she would cooperate, at least he hoped she would...

Brandy didn't know what to say or do. Her life was being put on the line for some chip? Why her? There were plenty of other, more logical, people they could have chosen, why did it have to be her? Of course he did have a point; if they knew who she was, they probabaly would kill her if they found her, wether she had the chip or not.

Brandy sat back in her seat and tried to calm herself down. She was terrified. Her voice was quiet when she asked, "Where are we going?"

ooc - I need to make an apology here... One of you has brought it to my attention that I am running VERY CLOSE to breaking one of the rules of the RPG thread in that I am determining the actions of the other players. First off, I accept the advisory in the spirit it was meant - I am new to the RPG threads and not fully conversant in the rules. I was trying to stay clear of this, but I guess I did not try hard enough. My concern, based on RPG experience outside of CF, was that the 'cross-country / let's find the target and everyone for themselves over a couple days or weeks chasing each other" scenario was quickly deteriorating into "let's have a 4 way shootout on a plane and end the game before lunch". In short, probably a very quick, dull, story. I had commented to the thread starter acouple ideas to 'scatter' the action - which is what I have aimed at doing. (with the German flying off to unknown contacts, the Heroine trapped in a supposedly safe rental car and the French not far behind the scatering has been accomplished.

At this point, let me ask a question: Would you all like me to continue playing as I have (various disguises in order to move the game along with occasional 'kidnapping' of characters) but only as needed to "fix" plot disasters or in a more conventional role, criss-crossing through the plot seeking my own objectives?

Please PM me with your responses. I have enjoyed the game so far, but admit I have to get used to the 'time-delay not only post-to-post but also the fact I am 6-12 hours off-schedule to the rest). Ultimately I would hate to destroy the scenario by trying too hard to 'fix' it.

Let me know - the characters would have xome time before any of them would meet my character anyway...

Ken

PS No, I will not ID the person who "wounded" me -the Bible says that the wounds of a friend are faithful and this person certainly has proven they are both faithful and a friend - I will not "betray" that loyalty that they have shown to the rest of you in their effort to save the game. I do thank them and hope that the rest of the game runs well. (As for their "character", well, all is fair in love and war, they say... ;) :D ) Seriously, no offense was intended by them nor taken by me - and I write this openly so they know how I have received their comments yet in so doing I maintain their anonymity. I hope the next time if I am in their position I will be able to do the same for another.

Back to the game -

He sat at the Texas Hold'em Table enjoying the game. He was glad his friend back home had taught him the basics. He wondered how Steve was doing. The method they had been practicing was working very well tonight: The next couple trips would be in cash!

He checked his cell phone - no call yet but he was sure there would be. He flipped over to the secure website he used. The tracking device he had left on Nathan's rental car was still active, meaning they were safe, for the moment. He knew that would change. The Frenchwoman was still an unknown fastor. The search of her purse had yielded not only some mundane, but useful, props, but also VERY interesting information. He now had strong suspicion of where the info about the chip had leaked out, but not quite enough to act on. Kind of like this hand he thought, as he folded the Jack-Queen set of hearts - too many offsuits in the flop to work with......

He handed her the card with the address on it. "If that guy is on our side, this will be a safe place for you to stay. If not, then we have to hope we can get out of there as quickly as we get in." He tried to hide his nervousness, but couldn't mask it fully. Without saying more he pushed the car into 4th gear and accelerated down the interstate.

ooc - have we lost the French Connevtion? Lynn? Hello?

(I'm laying low in Vegas for a little bit - I know my next move, but nobody's where they have to be yet. Of course, that general at the Nevada Misile Test site owes my character a few favors... Nah, Live Nuclear Warheads would probably ruin the drama of a car chase... heheheh, ahem.)
