Well, let's see...
First, let's try to define my spirituality in terms that are already known...
I'm a monistic, panpsychic, non-theistic (yet panentheistic) mystic influenced by the works of C.G. Jung and Joseph Campbell. I do not believe in any personal gods who interfere with daily life by supernatural means, yet I *do* believe in an underlying cosmic principle that transcends our limited understanding, and that can be represented by (or manifested in) archetypal images that touch upon the common symbolism of the human condition.
I believe that our biggest challenge (both as individuals and as a species) lies in dispelling the illusion of separation that underlies ALL western ideologies since late antiquity, viewing Man as a species that exists above and beyond Nature rather than a species existing within (and depending on) a vast interdependent ecosystem.
My inspiration stems from zen meditation, shamanic practices, Christian mysticism, daoist philosophy, secular science, poetry, posthumanism, personal reflection, the Western esoteric tradition, post-structuralism, and a psychological reading of different mythologies - just to mention a few influences.
I believe that even though shallow eclecticism is detrimental and more of a sign of cultural imperialism and appropriation, a fruitful exchange of ideas is vital to preventing a world view from becoming narrow-minded and incestuous.
The internet provides us with access to a wealth of information that would have been hard to come by even twenty years ago, and connects cultures from all across the globe. As a reaction to that, xenophobia and right-wing ideologies experience an unprecedented degree of popularity as people try to re-create the tightly knit, homogeneous communities mankind has been used to for millennia. But the future lies in another direction.
So - what shall we name this unique animal?
