How does a person know if they have or have not commited this sin ?

Could the devil set a trap that caused us to commit this sin ?

Would/could this be a evil spirit inside the person ? like defiling the temple
or being defiled by a evil spirit ? is this the "abomanation of desolation" Daniel
talked about ?

Personally (and I say this while strapping on my flak jacket) I do not believe that, on this side of Christ’s finished work, there is any sin beyond the grace of God or His forgiveness. The unforgivable sin was the one committed by those and at the time Christ addressed his words in Matthew 12.

But you ask a good question. If you do believe that there is a sin for which people cannot be forgiven today (which I do not believe there is) you are duty bound to KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt what it is. As you will probably learn as this thread develops, there is no consensus of opinion among those who believe it as to exactly what it is.

And if they are right and cannot agree what sin cannot be forgiven, then that is very scary for those of us who, um, occasional commit sinful acts.

There is an unforgiveable sin. Jesus said that if we don't forgive the sins of others against us, then God will not forgive our sins. I conclude that unforgiveness is the unforgiveable sin if we continue in it and not obey the Holy Spirit when He prompts us to forgive those who have done us wrong.

A characteristic of a person who has committed the unforgiveable sin is that they no longer care. If you are worried that you have committed the unforgiveable sin, it is a big chance that you haven't, because the Holy Spirit is still convicting you.

A person who has committed the unforgiveable sin is a person who has been completely given up and deserted by God, and the Holy Spirit doesn't try to work with that person any more. Therefore, this person is completely dead in his awareness of God and the Holy Spirit and is fully committed to a life of sin without any qualms or cares about it at all. He or she would be completely indifferent to anything you would say to them about the gospel.

the story of ananias and sapphira in acts 5. do you think that this couple was baptized in the Holy Spirit? so far, that was the only thing that i have read in the bible that has caused such a strong punishment. really, look into reading luke 12, well the whole thing is good. i think Jesus kind of laid down the law for unforgivable sin, thus why ananias and his wife died.

The fact that you care proves you have not.
People who have sinned a sin unto spirtual death do not care if they have or not. If asked, they will tell you Jesus is not Lord, and that Jesus never came in the flesh. They will deny the Father and the Son. These are all earmarks of the lost. They are beyond caring one way or another.
I doubt if this describes you.

They sinned a sin "not unto (spirtual) death". Their punishment was physical death. Nothing is said about their eternal destiny here. All we know is they lied to the Holy Spirit and died because of it.

From my understanding (now I am not a scholar on this subject by any means) they were one of the 120 in the Upper Room. Matthew 12:31 says this:

31And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

Now my little study note at the bottom of my Bible tells me this on the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit:

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit involves attributing the ministry and miraculous kingdom power of the Holy Spirit (such as authority to drive out demons and power to heal the sick, cf. vv. 22-24, 28) to Satan rather than to God. It involves a deliberate rejection of the Holy Spirit's witness to Christ and the Gospel. Note that in this context, it was not "sinners" (cf. 9:10-11) who were committing this sin, but rather the "spiritual" leaders of Israel (cf. vv. 24,34). The process leading to blasphemy against the Spirit is as follows: (1) Grieving the Spirit (Eph. 4:30), if ongoing, leads to resisting the Spirit (Ac 7:51); (2) Resisting the Spirit leads to putting out the Spirit's fire (1 Th 5:19); (3) Putting out the Spirit's fire leads to hardening the heart (Heb 3:8-13); (4) Hardening the heart leads to a depraved mind and to a labeling of good as evil and evil as good (Isa 5:20; Ro 1:28). When this hardening of the heart reaches a certain fullness of development, determined only by God, the Spirit will no longer stribe to lead that person to repentance (cf. Ge 6:3). For those who are worried about having committed the unpardonable sin, the very fact of wanting to be forgiven and the willingness to repent of sin is evidence that one has not committed the unpardonable sin.

Hope this helps!!

In Christ,

Kimmie

The only unpardonable sin is rejecting the "Gift of God". Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Romans4:14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

How can a saved person come boldly to the throne of grace and ask for mercy and find grace if his sin is unpardonable? By this scripture and a million others he cannot, because there is no unpardonable sin for those saved by grace through faith. See Below. You didnt save yourself to start with so how can you lose what you didnt earn, you were given!
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Hebrews 6:1-8 1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits. 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, F26 to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

Verses 4-6 are saying 1 of 2 things.
1. You cannot fall away.
2. If you do fall away you cannot be renewed to repentance lest you put Christ to open shame.

However thats not to say works are not integral to salvation because the bible tell us that our faith must bear fruit. If you are truly saved you will bear fruit.

John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

This clearly says if you are saved you WILL BEAR fruit. Its not an IF statement Christs says you will bear fruit. If you never bear fruit, you were never saved in the 1st place.

James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my F7 works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

This is all straight out of the king james and taken in context.:preach:
