What's the unforgivable sin?? If I just had a thought go through my mind that maybe Jesus did cast out demons by the ruler of demons, is that the unforgivable sin? I know Jesus DID NOT cast out demons by the ruler of demons. It was just an evil thought I had. It was triggered by my believing/worrying that Jesus was not going to save me due to my past failures/mistakes. But maybe it's too late for me after having that thought, and now I'm going to Hell? Have I committed the unforgivable sin?? Please be honest. Maybe that is why I can't shake the condemnation that has tormented me this year. Another thought I had was, "What kind of a God are you?" because I didn't think He was going to save me. I desperately hope I'm saved or still can be!

Don't worry, the saying is that if you are worried that you've committed it then you haven't. Please google Grantley Morris Scrupulosity and the readings show that no matter what you have done that you can be forgiven by repenting and placing your faith in the good Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for me too because I struggle really bad with ocd scrupulosity and lately I've been getting thoughts of the devil and I'm scared please I need prayers and may God and Jesus be with us both. Heavenly Father Lord God, I pray in the name of Jesus that you will please forgive us for our sins and you will save us from the devil and Jesus may your blood wash over us. In Jesus's name I pray amen.

A young one should be considered a young one, and a babe in Christ a babe in Christ.
Sympathy is with you.
Know, that you are not aggressive against The Holy Spirit, but in a wondering state of confusion, and random evil thoughts which plague you.
The way it may go, The Lord will know, and decide, even as you know, and decide, stepping into the evil, and walking therein as a course to take.
You have not taken that path in your heart, even as you are confused, and if you think you have decided, worry not, for there is sympathy for a babe in Christ to understand that it is not you.

I don't know how I'll ever be sure of my salvation again.

Be happy and merry that you need not worry of this.

I charge you, loose these things from your soul. What you loose on Earth is loosed in Heaven. Then you will not remember it anymore.
Speak it, and this will happen.

As strange as this may sound, there is NO place in the Bible where "the unforgivable sin" (tus) is spelled out in the manner of "You will not commit murder".

There are any (large) number of various expositors over the years who have 'shown' 'tus' is (not comprehensive but a sampling) Being a Catholic; Being a Protestant; Being undecided if one is a Catholic or Protestant; Being a homosexual; Being a sexual libertine (heterosexually); Smoking, Drinking, Dancing and going to Movies; Wearing stripes with plaids.

Looking at the entirety of the Bible - Old and New - the ONLY thing God will not, cannot forgive is the rejection of His love for us in the form of the Sacrificial death of Jesus and subsequent Resurrection. There is NOTHING else specified that God will not forgive (presuming one confesses to and repents to God).

In a later post you repeated that.

Consider this: Did God, as Jesus, say the words in John 3:16-18?

3:16 For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyonewho believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him. 3:18 The one who believes in him is not condemned. The one who does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.

If you understand and believe God - Jesus really said this, then did you ask - believe in that statement and rely on God for salvation?

If you did - it sounds like you did - do you think God was telling the truth when He said that? If yes, then you have nothing - really - to fear in this regard.

Now, perhaps you don't always 'feel' sure about your status as a forgiven child of God. Most folks have 'better' and 'worse' times in this regard, me included. Probably both of us are not the 'warm, fuzzy and innocent' perceptions most of have about Christians. (Probably me less than you.)

Does 'feeling' change God's statements? No, it doesn't.

That's it.

I cannot offer you a way to 'feel' better, other than to realize the reality and present that to both you and the Lord in prayer. Like the medical people say, "As needed".

First, merely having a thought or temptation go through your mind isn't a sin. Martin Luther once said, "You can't stop the birds from flying over your head but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair" This corrupt world and our own fallen natures constantly work together trying to lure us into sin and the only solution is to seek a renewal of the mind as in Rom12:1-2 "I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of all the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service and spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may prove for yourselves what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect in His sight for you."

This is accomplished thru God's Word as stated in Eph5:25-27 "Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word, that He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things." This requires our cooperation with the Holy Spirit as Rom8:12-15 spells out: "So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh, to live of the flesh. For if you live according to the dictates of the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the Holy Spirit you put to death the evil deeds prompted by the body, you shall genuinely live forever. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For the Spirit which you have now received is not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption in which we cry, Abba! Father!"

This brings us to blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (the unforgivable sin) which is defined by Christ in verses such as Mk3:28-30 "Truly and solemnly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever abusive and blasphemous things they utter; But whoever speaks abusively against or maliciously misrepresents the Holy Spirit can never get forgiveness, but is guilty of and is in the grasp of an everlasting trespass. For they persisted in saying, He has an unclean spirit." and Mt12:31-32 "Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not and cannot be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Spirit, the Holy One, will not be forgiven, either in this world and age or in the world and age to come."

He's speaking about those who have rejected the voice of the Holy Spirit as He testifies of the Truth for so long and are so hardened that they regard His voice to be that of Satan. When someone reaches that condition they can no longer be saved - and the only time I've ever encountered this condition is during exchanges with hardened Calvinists who have openly told me, "Anyone who says that God loves all people and that Christ died for everyone is speaking by the devil" Those who reach that hardened condition can never be saved no matter what you say to them - they're caught in an eternal trespass. From what you posted here, this doesn't remotely apply to you - just come before God, confess your past failures, surrender your life to Him, ask Him to reveal His will for you and to give you the strength to follow it when He does. You'll be just fine (unless you think Satan prompted this answer!).

What translation is that? I've never seen "they persisted in saying"

A Mortal sin, is a gravely wrongful act, which can lead to eternal damnation, if a person is not absolved of the sin before death. Despite its gravity, a person can repent of having committed a mortal sin. Such repentance can, in turn, enable a person to obtain absolution.

According to Catholic teaching, imperfect contrition, coupled with a firm resolution to sin no more, can restore a person's relationship with God, as well as God's saving grace.

It consists of repentance for all one's sins, a desire for God over sin, and faith in Christ's redemption on the cross and its sufficiency for salvation.

The same is true in all the Protestant groups of which I'm aware.

(Speden, I edited out the word 'imperfect', I don't think that was the word you meant there.)

Bravo! Same again for Protestants. In other words, an acknowledgement of sin, a sincere regret for offending God (and perhaps others) and a desire and full-fledged intention of avoiding such actions in the future, with God's help.

The ONLY sin which is 'unforgivable' is the one of which one will not acknowledge or repent of. Not that God is powerless, but the sinner will not allow it.
