Well, we all know what the unforgivable sin is: renouncing the holy spirit. God/Jesus would be willing to forgive you of every other sin, save that one.

I recently came across a series of videos on YouTube of people renouncing the holy spirit. This raises a few questions for me:

1) If you are going to do that, why do you need to do it on YouTube? Are they in need of reassurance?

2) They all seem so proud of it - as if in some way it distinguishes them from the rest of the world.

I often chastise certain Christian groups for forcing their beliefs on other people, and I often make the claim that atheists are, in general, less vocal and pushy with their beliefs. Well, looks like that theory is blown out of the water.

This is unfortunate, I've seen those videos before, and I really felt for those people. Their souls may be lost now, because of that. I noticed they seemed very proud of doing that too. I wonder if those people will ever change.

youtube?

Dude, people on there cut off their own *synonym-of-rooster*s and literally eat ____ to get higher view counts. And it gets worse - there's this being called "Chris Crocker" displaying his "talents" in a series of videos. I advise you not to watch if you haven't.

We can only hope God doesn't judge humanity based on youtube because if so we're screwed.

The un forgiveable Sin is an old wives tale....and a lie.

Blasphemy against the Holy spirit will not be forgiven in this era or the next era, or this eon or the next eon.
We are currently in the 3rd of 5 eras of Gods plan for Man.....after which comes the consumation.

The wicked who where Judged, suffered affliction, and where put to Death afterwards miss out on the next two eras as well....but learned righteousness as a result of their punishments, and are restored to life with God for Eternity at the consumation....when God does away with the final enemy...death.

Now you know the truth of the matter.....the error was in translation, some Bibles translate that Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this life or the next...error...correct translation is...this era or the next.

What ever you have been taught to the contrary by Men (who are as dust and ashes blowing in the wind) you have just heard the truth of the matter.

Prove it, SpiritDriven, can you prove it from scripture?
Would like to see where you derive all that.

Meanwhile. YouTube, FTW!

Concordant Literal New Testament....
From Mark 3.
29 yet whoever should be blaspheming against the holy spirit is having no pardon for the eon, but is liable to the eonian penalty for the sin" --

Youngs Literal Translation
From Mark 3
29but whoever may speak evil in regard to the Holy Spirit hath not forgiveness -- to the age, but is in danger of age-during judgment;'

As you can now see...the punishment is for this era and or the next for the duration of that age, and or including the next age....not eternal.

The words forever, everlasting and Eternal, never appear even once in the original Greek the NT was written in...and Eternity is only indirectly reffered to on a single occasion in John 17.2.

Case for Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit punishment being eonion (age during) and not eternal... prooven.

While we are here....stop promoting the Doctrine of the Demon...because you will only acomplish 2 Goals with the Doctrine of Eternal Torment....and those 2 goals are Satans.

1. You might scare a couple of people into being self righteouse, and boasting before God that they saved themselves via an act of their own Free Will.
(they miss out on the first ressurection, and do not reign with Christ over Satan, while he is shut up in the pit for a thousand years)

2, You will put most people off wanting to know about God at all, because they are tired of hearing from self righteouse hypocrites (Christians)

If instead you where to actualy...study...the word of God more closely for your self, you will discover long before you get around to reading 1 Timothy 4 that the doctrine of Eternal Torment is a lie....

He is God, and there is no other. He has sworn by Himself, the word has gone forth from His mouth in righteousness and will not turn back, that to Him every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance (Isaiah 45:22,23).

You are forgiven.....heed the word of God, not what you are taught by men.

Do you address this to Moriah or to the board in general?
It does not know what you mean by "doctrine of the demon" though it does agree with your two assessments of types of false believer that you included.

The unforgivable sin is not renouncing the Holy Spirit, but blaspheming Him. Calling Him a demon would count.
In fact, Jim, that bes exactly how it bes done in Scripture what JC pointed out the Pharisees did -- they said He did ekbalein by the power of Beelzebub. In essence they callsy them Holy Spirit the Devil. So you bes spot on with this.

Of course for some of us whats cannot tell the difference this bes problematic.....not necessarily deliberate .... the pharisees did it deliberate and from malice. They bes not genuinely and authentically unable to tell the difference.

Do bear in mind that it is God who shuts up all in disobedience that he may show mercy to all.....and that scripture does tells us that Jesus was delivered into the hands of Evil men via the pre determined plan of God.

A lot of people struggle with understanding because God does things his way....and not the way people would do things....God even tells us in Scripture that his ways are not our ways.

I address the board in general, when making responses.

Grace and Peace to all of you.

eon
  1. An indefinitely long period of time; an age.
  2. The longest division of geologic time, containing two or more eras.
[Late Latin aeōn, from Greek aiōn.]

In aeonics we generally allot approximately 2000 human years to an aeon.

Carry on

I always understood the 'unforgivable sin' to be a Christian then turning and blaspheming the Holy Spirit...

Luke 12:10 Jesus is talking about Hypocricy of the pharisees - supposedly religious people who supposedly knew God and His ways - but still blaspheming the Holy Spirit. In Matthew 12:31 - Jesus is warning the pharisees because they attributed the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan - when they of all people SHOULD have known better. This is a deliberate hardening of the heart.

Hebrews 6:4-6
"4It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because[b]to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace."

There is question as to whether a true Christian, who has the Holy Spirit, can even actually commit this sin...

Whether they can or not, they can certainly be cruelly tricked into thinking they have, and scathingly, abusively haunted by the terror of that thought, and Hebrews 6:4-6 bes just one of a few misused texts employed for this purpose. These texts in the hands of an accusatory spirit (human or non-corporeal) can be as volatile and deadly as mercury fulminate to the soul, and the one shattered by them will never be whole again.
