  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Mark yourself as a creationist or evolution supporter, then attempt to describe as much as you can about evolution and how it works, as the theory itself states. The rules:

No responding to anyone; this is a bit of an experiment, just to see what people honestly think independently. Do not attempt to correct people, or encourage them to say more.

Try to be serious, no snarky answers.

Answer independently of the fact that you support or deny evolution. Your response should be as neutral as possible, with no criticizing or promotional language.

Don't know which view of evolution you're wanting a comment on. I embrace any form of evolution which is supported by the scientific method.

Sorry, this is not going to happen. I have taught college courses on just human evolution- 47 hours of lecture.

I am not about to give a transcript.

However, there are some easily read internet resources.

One on Human Evolution
"29+ Evidences for Macroevolution: The Scientific Case for Common Descent"
"Understanding Evolution"
You didn't need to give a full lecture, but you could have given some bullet points of the understanding you have. Additionally, it defies the rules to post an outside source.

If you think there is more than one, describe all that you feel is reasonable to explain, but you must distinguish them as different, they can't run together.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'run together', but here's the basics of the more common views of evolution.

  • Darwinist evolution. All life is the product of only naturalistic mechanisms acting on a single life form of long ago
  • Theistic evolution. All life is the product of God-influenced naturalistic mechanisms acting on a single life form of long ago
  • Micro evolution. Slight changes in the same form of life because of various factors. Bacteria become bacteria, finches become finches....etc.
Only micro-evolution is based on the scientific method.
