  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Since the law in america is that you need to be 21 to drink, does that mean in College it is wrong to drink at a party?

I would say yes it is wrong to drink at a party if you are under 21.

I would say it is wrong to drink at a college party even if you're over 21, because the point of drinking at college parties is to get drunk. And our faith tells us that drinking to an excess (as well as eating to an excess, or indulging ourselves in anything to an excess, also known as glutony) is wrong. If you were to drink just a little bit to "loosen up" I'd say it's okay if it wasn't for the fact that others there would be drunk. I'm going into my 4th year at college right now and I went to a couple of these parties in my day (although i don't go anymore), and let me tell you, there's nothing glamorous about getting drunk with a bunch of people. Nothing good ever comes out of these things, but there is always a possibility that something horrible could happen.

Long story short, you shouldn't waste your time with these sorts of things.

Wow. Good advice from somone so young..Personally, I have never drank and have no intrest in it.. I know too many people who medicate with it for stress...I have been at work with people who did in the past, it is scary..Honestly in my 55 years, I have never been around any positive benifits of alcohol consumption..It has been divorce, confusion death, family problems ect..pax..kim

In Sweden, the age for buying alcohol is 20 - but at 18 You can have it in a restaurant...
So from 18 it is allright to drink it, but not too much (You can't get it if You're drunk)...
So I think that a glass of wine is okey when You're 18, but a bit to early at 16...
Drinking too much is never okey - not for anyone 18, not for me either...
But then, I compare with the rules in my country.

I don't think you should drink before 21 and I don't think God would want you to get drunk, espeacialy at college
yes in america by all means
but here in australia the law is 18
so i think its ok to drink after u have reached the legal age in your own country

at partys it is ok to drink maybe one or two but the thing is not over doing it and not getting drunk
exactamundo

Trouble is at these parties is that when the booze is flowing those two drinks can sometimes make you loose your inhibitions and you end up just getting completely drunk.
