• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Its gonna come and go like waves, they usually do :(

Im concerned on why you believe there is anything to forgive?
God doesnt blame us for our illnesses. It isnt something that you can control. God knows that you dont want this.

You cannot blame yourself:hug:

and when we sin (your bad thoughts are not your fault), just repent. Which means to turn away from them. You have forgivness through faith in Jesus Christ. You can always count on Jesus!

I hope you feel better:hug:

i'm afraid because i feel i'm against god there is just so much i don't understand. i want to be whole with god and it's like i can't it seems like i'm climbing this ladder and i get so far up then this happens and slide right back down to the bottom. i want to be saved. i don't want to sin. especially the unpardonable sin. i wish there wasn't such a sin then most of us wouldn't be like this. why did my thoughts have to be about that{the holy ghost is of the devil}? why did this happen? sometimes i feel as though i want to think like this. that's why i feel so doomed

This, my friend, sounds like classic OCD. Have you been diagnosed with this? Sought counseling/meds? I can't remember.

And believe me, if it's OCD, we could take "unforgivable sin" concept totally out of the picture and the OCD would still find something else to latch onto. I, myself, no longer struggle with the unpardonable sin issues because of what I believe theologically about it. But I still have OCD moments...because once again, it's the OCD, not a "solvable spiritual issue."

i see one this wednesday. but wednesday seems so far off
Keep as busy as possible tomorrow. It will help. If you catch yourself sitting and staring....get up and do something. Don't think. Thinking gets us into a ton of trouble. I know it's hard. You seem to have some depression setting in with this. If it's too hard to concentrate....try coloring or drawing. It helps.

I'll be praying for you.

God bless,
seajoy

why did my thoughts have to be about that{the holy ghost is of the devil}? why did this happen?

Simple, because you care about God so much :) And because God cares about you.

I was tortured with religiou OCD for 3+ years and not a day do I regret going through what I did. Needed to happen, God because He loved me let it happen.

as scary as it might sound, it became a blessing to me. And Im happy that God didnt heal me when I asked Him oh that 100 million times ;)

we can persevere through our suffering, God can make us stronger for His kingdom. I know you dont understand what I mean because your still in that state of mind, but one day you will persevere from it. and you'll look back and think the same way. You need to let God do His Work in you, trust in Him :)

spirit would not strive with men forever

Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

That is so taken out of context. Do you know what He was talking about? You cannot just take a verse out of the bible, it needs to be read in context. the bible cannot "just" be read. It must be studied in context.

God isnt gonna leave you, heck if He was going to, He would never have called on you :p

same thing with the unpardonable Sin. and those famous verses in the Book of Hebrews that people are scared to death of (im not listing the verses :p)

what if i do want these thoughts?

Well think about it, if you wanted these thoughts would you really be this upset or even here for that matter? ;)

We need to seperate those "feelings" and "fear" from the real reality and get out of that irrational state of mind.

Yes, just put off thinking for a couple of days. Tell yourself there is plenty of time to think later.;)

I thought Jay had some good points here about OCD taking scriptures out of context. You have to always consider what I call "the whole counsel of scripture" to get a true picture.

Great advice given here by everyone.
Be totally honest, transparent and open about the content of your thoughts and the mental torture you are in with the Dr. on Wednesday. Don't minimize them or be vague about them so that the Dr. will be able to diagnose you and recommend treatment.
I'll be praying for you.
