  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Unanimous!

So, did anyone else watch this new show after the Idol results show tonight and what did you think.

I had seen the previews and said - "No, I'm not getting into that show..."

BUT.....it's kind of intriguing and it just may have me as a viewer, at least for one more week.

Yeah, that's what we always say...

How about you all?

Well, that must be from a future show, as I didn't see that happen last night.

I, too, thought - "I'm not watching this one!"

BUT! But, we had just finished Idol and just kept it on out of curiosity and watched the whole thing, as it was only 1/2 hour. I also have to admit, they said (in a promo) there would be something shocking in the first 10 minutes, so that kept me wanting to watch. (It worked! and to think I used to work at a t.v. station.)

Anyway, hmmm, I don't really know what to think. They do leave you with a cliffhanger at the end of the show.

The people really did seem shocked that they were being locked in and that they were playing for $1,500,000.00.

People started fighting right, over beliefs, actually. There is a woman who is a minister on the show and she was having it out with a gay man.

They are communicated with by a guy on a screen - who is telling them instructions, live. It's silly the way they have him show up - the screen has to first kindof crackle and get "tuned in" - we found that corny - trying to give a futuristic look. Also a female voice gives them instructions now and then.

They were told that if ANYONE leaves, the money amount is cut in half. They WERE given a chance to leave at the very beginning, but very, very little time to think about it. "Now's your last chance..."

So, I'll give it another week. And I may tape it. Make it as short as possible.

Yeah, although I don't know that they will know who's secret is whose.

She was an interesting lady...she needs to check out that scripture again about money - she's got it wrong!

I don't think I would have stayed... how about you?

And I STILL want to know what they THOUGHT they were going to be doing - must have known it was some kind of reality show.

no, they don't know who's secret is whose...I can't believe they left us hanging like that!!! I wanted to know that episode who left.

I don't know if I could have walked out and cut everyone elses $$$ in half...unless I was being singled out by the others...then I wouldn't care what they thought of my leaving...

I agree with everything you said LovesToRead. I've seen the promos for weeks and swore I wouldn't watch it, but when I saw it was a 1/2 hour, I figured it couldn't hurt.

It was interesting, kinda cheesy too. I thought the same thing when she said misquoted scripture about money. People always leave out the "love of" part. I would probably walk out, but since I can be a people pleaser sometimes, that would be hard.

How many weeks is this show? I guess I can check the website... :sorry:

Sorry, I took from your first post that you thought they knew who's secret was whose - you meant to the rest of us, watching - we know her secret.

No one leaves. They can't win the money, but they have to stay and vote.

Now, here's the thing that just occurred to me - if they can't win, why would they stay? I mean why would they really care if the person who wins eventually wins less.

Unless........they just really want to have the power of still voting and seeing to it that someone they don't like doesn't get the money. I bet that's it.

It's funny, I'm very much a people person, but I don't know that I'd keep myself in this situation. Don't think I'd like it, overall.

I don't know either how many weeks the show is - perhaps around 9, give or take, since there are 9 people.

The situation makes me feel somewhat claustrophobic...that might have made me change my mind - so many of them were complaining that is was hot and no outside air.

But then again, they MUST have known they were in for some kind of money-winning, reality show adventure.

There are SO many of them these days, that they had to be of the mind-set who are up for the adventure.

I can't believe that guy said he had testicular cancer!!! I wouldn't be surprised if he really ended up getting it:( ...I hope not though:sigh: but our words do have power.

He is so despicable! How do people like that sleep at night?

It's so very maddening to hear people like that - and you know what - why did he even admit it? I mean, why not just keep it from all of America too?

I'm a very, very trusting person and to hear someone like that, just makes me sick.

Well, I guess he needs the Lord.

That slimy guy's lies about testicular cancer would be obvious to anyone in the medical field or anyone who's known someone actually diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Too bad the other players don't appear to have that advantage of being able to see right through him on that. :sigh:

Not in my experience they don't. The many people I've known who named it and claimed it and God doesn't.
I have never seen anyone speak anything into happening.
Once I was out and it was so cold. I said I KNOW I am going to get sick.
I usually did often. But not that time. Then I knew, doesn't happen.

A lady that works with my mom kept saying that Regis & Kelly would call her and she'd win a trip...she said it all the time. When Regis ended up calling her at 7:13 a.m. her huband asked "who's calling at this hour?" and she said it's Regis and it was!!! They called her back a couple of hours later and she got the question right!!! So now she and 7 other ppl are going on an all expense paid trip to England. This happened less than a month ago and she has been saying it for a coupla years now...ppl probably thought she was crazy. She was late that day but when she did go to work she had the local news team with her.^_^ My mom(Savedsis)was on TV!!!
Proverbs 18:21a says "Life and death are in the power of the tongue"...
You won't see me speaking negativity into my life without rebuking it and asking God to forgive me. He really does want the best for us...I am careful to try to speak blessings not curses.

You know, I wasn't going to watch because I didn't want to get involved in it, but halfway through, I turned it on. I thought it was going to end tonight! It almost did.
I almost felt it was fixed, but then, nah, it couldn't be.
Good ol Steve.

What a sad commentary on the times we live in when someone gives this kind of speech to their kids:

Remember all those things I taught you about right and wrong and not to lie and all that? Well, forget all that now because I'm about to compromise on those things now that I'm close to getting my selling price and hopefully I'll be bringing a big check home.

:sigh: :(
