Yes, it made sense and was not offensiveConcern and speaking on things one has no knowledge of are two different things. Several people have steady tried to show the doctrines that are pertinant to the original question, and the non-catholic Christians steadily attempt to say we are wrong and this that and the other. I merely say this, the question has been addressed and now its no longer about that but how wrong catholics are for their beliefs.
((also beings you originaly asked the question fish eaters.com is an awful unreliable website. Ask a catholic in person, dont go to a website for your answers, unless you go to the vatican website.))
Hope that made sense, and didnt upset anyone.
God Bless,
SMM
I am Catholic, I find it offensive when people question or demean my faith and beliefs. I am sorry if I offended anyone beings that is not and never will be my intention.Yes, it made sense and was not offensive
at all.
I hope it's not offensive to note that whether
it's doctrine or not, it's a practice and
it's a concern for those of us who
have relatives and friends who are
catholic.
Blessings to you,
sunlover
God bless you! I have been trying to say this, but they listen not to the voice of logic or reasoning! So I would think you would just forget all about your mom right? It's funny how you all are so ready to condemn us. We honor Mary because she intercedes for us. She talks to Jesus and God for us. Communion is all about Jesus but, we can offer up things to her "FOR" Jesus. We honor Mary because she's Jesus's mother. Would you only remember your mother around mothers day and thats it. No. You wouldn't. Why? Because she's your mom and I'm assuming you love her. We do the same thing. We're following the 10 commandments and "honoring our father and mother"
God want’s you to ignore His command to not talk to the dead (Scriptural) guess this is more profitable than just praying to GOD HIMSELF, and not just a waste of time.

The Word of God is pretty specific about God hearing us and how thats achieved.
1 tim2:5
KJV: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
HOW IS THAT ANTI Christian?!That's why I don't ever ask anybody else for prayers. That verse proves such an act is anti-Christian.
why wouldn't you go straight to Jesus for yourself? If I wanted something from my father, and I went to my mother..guess what she said?? GO ask your father?? What would make Mary any different?? AND, for the record....Mary is NOT my mother...she is a blessed woman, but NOT my mother. And that verse on honoring..is to earthly parents. So I would think you would just forget all about your mom right? It's funny how you all are so ready to condemn us. Jesus himself said it, and that is good enough for me.26When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son!"
27Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other
so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
Jesus gave Mary to John. Not us. Mary is not our mother. For believers in Christ have a mother and this is spoken of in scripture. No where in scripture are we told anywhere that Mary is our mother. No where. We are told though we have a mother and who this mother is.As far as Mary being our mother, Jesus himself gave mary to us.

Ok so you are saying two thousand years of Church Doctrine is wrong? I think not.Jesus gave Mary to John. Not us. Mary is not our mother. 2618 The Gospel reveals to us how Mary prays and intercedes in faith. At Cana, the mother of Jesus asks her son for the needs of a wedding feast; this is the sign of another feast - that of the wedding of the Lamb where he gives his body and blood at the request of the Church, his Bride. It is at the hour of the New Covenant, at the foot of the cross, that Mary is heard as the Woman, the new Eve, the true "Mother of all the living."
2674 Mary gave her consent in faith at the Annunciation and maintained it without hesitation at the foot of the Cross. Ever since, her motherhood has extended to the brothers and sisters of her Son "who still journey on earth surrounded by dangers and difficulties." Jesus, the only mediator, is the way of our prayer; Mary, his mother and ours, is wholly transparent to him: she "shows the way" (hodigitria), and is herself "the Sign" of the way, according to the traditional iconography of East and West.
501 Jesus is Mary's only son, but her spiritual motherhood extends to all men whom indeed he came to save: "The Son whom she brought forth is he whom God placed as the first-born among many brethren, that is, the faithful in whose generation and formation she co-operates with a mother's love."
