  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My husband sent me this article today from the Washington Post about free or inexpensive WiFi add-ons. One of the programs being reviewed made me think of the UK Losties who have to wait to watch the show because they can't stream it online from ABC.com:

Here's another application that...sets up a virtual private network (VPN) for you when you're at a hotspot, or when you want to protect your wireless transmissions for any reason. Run the software, log in, and choose a server (currently your choice is only the United States or the United Kingdom), and everything you do will be hidden through 128-bit SSL encryption.

The software also promises to get around a problem that can occur when people are outside the United States and want to view certain American TV shows over the Internet: Since some sites block access to such shows to all but American IP addresses, as the creators claim, if you choose a U.S. WiFi Guardian server when you log in, the server will give you a U.S. IP address. As a result, you should be able to watch the show.

See more info/download WiFi Guardian| Price: Free (trial for 30 days; $5 per 1GB transferred)

Since it's got a free 30 day trial, maybe that could get you through the finale if you don't want to wait for it to air on your television.

IT folk are pretty savvy about this kind of stuff though. ABC pays big bucks for the kind of info on like who owns what IP and such. If they see significant traffic from IP's owned by one company that offers a service like this, they will block it. There are big legal issues around this kind of stuff.

Our UK friends best bet is to find a US friend that is willing to record and rip to file and put somewhere that they can download. Not that I am advocating that at all.
