• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I hate when my life feels like that. I just have faith in God and that He will help me through my hard times. And also just remember that nothing ever stays the same...your life may feel bad and c r a p p y right now but it isn't always going to be like that. Things do get better and change and life does go on.

Father, please make everything work out best for j.f., please comfort her and draw her all close to You. In Jesus' name. Amen

You know, everything that you go through is God's will. It is his plan for your life. You go through trials and don't see why you are then but God sees the big picture. It's like when you take a beautiful picture and you cut out a square. Its not beautiful because you can only see that square but after you put together all the squares it makes a beautiful picture. That is how your life is. Everything you see is one square but God sees the whole thing. He has a plan for everything that happens. If you get fired maybe he will use you to serve him in another way. You never know. Just know that God is always looking out for you and he will always amaze you.

If we live in faith and not in our feelings, if we live in the spirit and not in the flesh, if we live according to God's plan for us, then He will cause all things to work out for the best. But God can not work it out for us if we try to run our own life and do not turn it over to Him, to work it all out for us. We need to be careful not to fall short of the grace of God and we need to do all we can to follow after Him and to live according to His divine and perfect will for us. In other words we can not live our life as a sinner and expect good to come out of that unless we repent and get ourselves right with God. To many christians think they can go right on living in sin and they do not realize that God is doing a work in their life to try and bring them out of that.

Actually, he will cause things to work out for the best anyway, even if we're not good boys and girls, because he's like that. Our feelings, BTW, are essential parts of us, and should not be dismissed or discounted, but felt and respected, whether they are pointing God-wards at the moment or not.

Rubbish. We need to think about, plan, and take responsibility for our own lives. If we are going in a direction he doesn't want us to, he will soon let us know.

No, we don't. None of us will ever even come close to living according to his divine and perfect will for us. But, amazingly, he accepts us anyway! Trying in any way, shape or form won't do you one iota of good, and will just distract you from his grace.

Amen and amen. But I think the original poster has already figured that out, judging by his user name.

True. But only God can do that work in us. You can't change the deepest parts of you, but praise God, He can and does, over a long period of time.

I must disagree with you Andrewbee. JohnR7 was completely correct in everything he said. God wants us to see that we can't live by our own plans and our own selfish desires. We have to surrender ourselves to Him to lead us. He will not interfere if we do not ask Him to. If He turned everything around for us without our trying then how do people get to the lowest points in their lives? Why are they overcome from drugs and alcohol? God does accept us for who we are. It is amazing. But even so we need to try to live in His footsteps. We need to do everything we can to live like Him, so that on Judgement day he will say to us "Well done good and faithful servant."

I know what this feels like. I have been in the cross-hairs twice at jobs that either weren't meant for me or just had some nasty backstabbers. In the meantime, it doesn't help when you work with mean sniper gossipy people. The longer you stay, the worse it can get.

What I did from this point was pray for direction and openings. I began playing around with html, computers and stuff, and with God's help landed a position in a computer job I 've had for almost 4 years now. I knew sales wasn't my thing!! People can be very mean though. It made the transitions a bit painful when leaving. From now on, I will leave before it ever gets that bad. In other words, when I begin to get put down or get mean or rude treatment from superiors, I will leave and NOT stick it out again. The reason is that if you are in that environment for too long, it can really beat down your self-esteem I think. If you are in an environment with good people it is different, and if the job truely isn't for you, they will be patient as you find another avenue.
