One has attained the status of being of the devil if they do the lusts of their father the devil by the fact that they say they must sin again and they are saved while they sin.

Jesus said, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.“ (John 8:44).

John said, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8).

Knowing that a person‘s old life was a sinner, and then they can become a believer and overcome their sin is taught in the Bible (See: 1 Peter 4:1-2, 2 Corinthians 7:1, Galatians 5:24). We know this because we read and accept what the Bible says. You should try it sometime.
