  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This question and request for input is directed strictly to born again Christians. There is a pastor I know who, outside of a couple of 'suspect' beliefs, holds pretty much to God's Word in his messages. This pastor believes there are 2 creation stories. Adam and Eve and a scenario where God creates an unknown number of humans in the same way He created Adam and Eve. The scripture he uses is Genesis 1:26,27 which reads from the NKJV:
"Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the earth and over the fish of the sea, over the all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."
He basis his belief on the scripture I have highlighted. He concludes that the word 'them' makes it plural so He had to have created more than Adam and Eve.
Now how I and everyone I've ever talked to or heard teach, interprets that 'them' simply means plural of 2. Adam and even being male and female, He created them.
I would like to hear from others on this doctrine.

There is no basis for this. 'Them' is plural. More than one, which can be 2. I don't even know why he would come up with that.
