  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So, the facts and justice weigh against Trump, but the dems should back off because.... optics.
Plus, think of all of Donald's supporters who are obviously going to vote for the Democratic candidate in 2020 because the House decided not to impeach Donald between now and then. /s

The report from the investigation which put Donald's campaign Charmian and also his personal attorney in prison. That one?
Correct. The one that didn’t find any illegal activity.

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) on Friday said she now supports an impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

"Up to this point, I have been opposed to pursuing impeachment because it will further divide our already badly divided country," Gabbard said in a statement. “However, after looking carefully at the transcript of the conversation with Ukraine’s President, the whistleblower complaint, the Inspector General memo, and President Trump’s comments about the issue, unfortunately, I believe that if we do not proceed with the inquiry, it will set a very dangerous precedent."

I imagine this won't be the only thread which doesn't age well over the coming weeks.

Well, I give her and others time to actually absorb the documents that were released this week. At least she took the time to read them and change her position and admit it openly. We need more politicians like her....

Tulsi Gabbard sold her integrity to Nancy Pelosi the other day when she came out for impeachment. So this does not represent a sharp campaign strategy or even give her a solid campaign plank to run on. That's because everyone else she is contending against has taken the same stance with regard to impeaching the president.

No, the meaning is this: the high-level conference of Congressional Democrats which was held the other day laid out the facts that a decision to impeach had already been made. The issues are not critical; the votes, however, are critical, and they had better be there!

That meant that nothing could be gained by any candidate or member of the House (Gabbard is both, of course) by putting themselves on the losing side now. Tulsi of course got the message. She may also have permanently ruined her reputation.

She apparently changed her opinion based on acquiring new information. Whether her reputation is harmed depends on the quality of that information.

..and I explained what the new information was.

Whether her reputation is harmed depends on the quality of that information.

Certainly is it is too early to do anything but guess at that. However, her main "claims to fame" were that she was an independent thinker (albeit a liberal) and prudent, level-headed, etc.

As the recent events have turned out, she plainly compromised both of those.

Had she departed or waffled on the matter of abortion or something else not in the spotlight particularly (which she has indeed done in the past), it probably wouldn't have mattered nearly as much.

Heard it read on the radio this morning. Big nothingburger. If the Dems don't back off from this impeachment nonsense it could be the final nail in their coffin for 2020. I'm a conservative but I even hate to see them soil themselves with this issue.
The Founding Father took a dim view of those who would encourage foreign interventions into American electoral process and Presidents were no exception!

A President soliciting a foreign leader to provide "dirt" to be used against his presidential opponent in the next election violates his oath of office!

Anybody with even a cursory knowledge of the Constitution knows that this is anything but a "nothingburger" and obvious grounds for impeachment!

tulsi was right about russiagate, gas attacks in syria, and now ukrainegate. she will be top 5 in the polls after the next debate

Oh, are Republicans voting in the Democratic polls now? The only people I know who are supporting Gabbard are libertarians and a self-described "Christian anarchist..."

We've had anarchy and chaos for the past three years. I am ready to end anarchy now.

Sen. Graham called it a nothingburger. Rep. Schiff called it "dirt," along with all the TV "newsmen" who dutifully picked up and repeated that characterization as they had been instructed to do.

It looks like Graham is closer to the truth, but it may not matter.

Oh, she agrees with you and is Queen for a Day. She disagrees with you and suddenly has no integrity. Nice.

They don't really teach civics in high school, and government is an AP course now. These days, you don't to know government and/or civics to be considered learned. To learn about why this is astronomically detrimental to the States, one would likely have to go to private/magnet/vanguard school to see the dynamics, or go to University to learn how to learn. The destabilization of the States has been ongoing since the 60s, and now we are seeing the effects of it.

Very few people know the preamble, and even fewer may know even half of the constitutional amendments per the document. All media sources take advantage of this when they sensationalize small things, and marginalize impactful things. Trump must remain in office to substantiate the test of destabilization - that is what he is in office for. His job is to show the world how the destabilization worked. The "division" is a consequence of the fruit of that destabilization - that we have imploded. There are several nations that have been trying to destabilize the States since just after WWII; ironically those same strange bedfellows are no longer strange since the job is compete - which is why they are coming up again in a "suspicious" way.

If anyone has read The Art of War - you know what comes next.

The anarchy hasn't even begun yet. People are going to flip if/when the economy collapses - which should happen if we want to stay afloat... at least a major correction should happen since the interest rates have been artificially low (just like it was leading up to 2008). Nothing has changed except for perception and confidence.

You know this how? From what I know of her views, she has always been an independent person. btw, what reputation did she have?
