Anyone going this year? I'll be there.

If you haven't heard about this then check out this website on it: http://www.tulsaworkshop.org/

The dates are March 24-26, 2005. There will be a ton of Christian speakers and a ton of representatives and church of Christ members from all over the country attending.

I believe there were around 20,000 in attendance last year. The speakers were phenominal from what I hear. Accapella usually performs as well. Should be fun :)

It's a workshop about soul winning. Its definatley worth the trip. I just bought my plane tickets a couple of days ago.:)

Check out their website - it has a list of speakers and topics. God really works through this event every year. There are going to be some amazing speakers and you'll be informed on some wonderful ministries as well as some new areas of focus for our brotherhood (like campus ministries and the like).

I'm sure that subject is touched on, but its much more than that. Check out this link: http://www.tulsaworkshop.org/schedule/ All the times are listed for these speakers plus the many other events that will be going on. I also failed to mention that hundreds of Church of Christ vendors will be present at this event. Tons of books, teachings materials, films, music and the like will be available and it all comes from a Church of Christ perspective.

Here is a list of the speaker's topics:

Day One (Thurs. March 24):
Day Two (Fri. March 25):
Day Three (Sat. March 26):

how'd it go? I was supposed to go there on Thursday to preform with my drama group, e3... but that didn't work out b/c Dustin (our youth minister) rolled his ankle and couldn't drive the few of us that were in town... but I'm pretty sure we'll be preforming next year! So keep an eye out for us! :)
I'm really interested though, how'd it go? what'd you learn? Do tell!
By the way, Hi everybody!

I thought it went very well. I especially enjoyed hearing Jeff Walling, Rubel Shelly and Kerry Cox speak. The Acapella concert was fun too. :)

The only downside of the event was Leonard Sweet. I hadn't heard of him before the workshop, but apparently he is a fairly well-known author of Christian books and he was one of the speakers this year. I did not appreciate some of the things he had to say (he upset quite a lot of people by poking fun at a couple of issues), but other than that little incident I thought it was a great experiance to be there.

Well, turns out Mr. Sweet is a Methodist bishop or something, so he sort of poked fun at adult baptism and showed a video of adults being baptized as well as very young children and a couple of babies that were about to be baptized.

Many people won't be going back next year because of that. I don't know why he was there in the first place - appartently the people who set up the workshop like his books. He really didn't add anything to the convention besides causing higher blood pressure in many of the attendees.

I would like to know why he was even invited...

Mr. Sweet was invited because the people setting up the workshop see NOTHING wrong with what he believes and teaches. In essence, they made it clear that they see nothing wrong with his teaching, and that they are willing to fellowship denominationalism (see 2 John 9-11). We should listen to their message and respond as the Lord directs in Romans 16:17-18.

2 John 1:9-11 ASV

Whosoever goeth onward and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God: he that abideth in the teaching, the same hath both the Father and the Son. (10) If any one cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and give him no greeting: (11) for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works.

This is an excellent point.
