i bought the over the counter prenatal vitamins too but they are so big and i hate taking pills so i decided to just take flinstone vitamins, i heard that they are good to take too.. plus, i even know friends that took them during their pregnancies!

Can you can help me answer my little dilemma?

Dh and I made up our mind to TTC in August, September and October. If that doesn't work, we'll wait to start again next April.
If we TTC this month, it's in the upcoming week.
The only thing is that I'm quitting my job in 2 weeks and I have to find a new one - it's looking positive with my best job option so far, but there's nothing certain at this point.

So since I'm in-between jobs, do you think I should wait until I have a job for sure to TTC or start right this week?

I got pregnant with my daughter when I was in between jobs as well, and I really liked the time that I got to stay home with her.

hon.. I've been told this only about a half a million times I think... If you wait until you are financially ready to have children, you will never have them!! lol While it is good to have some sense of security and everything.. Don't let that get in the way of your trying. Trust God that he will help you find another job if it is His will to do so! And if you are giving the situation to God.. even if y ou are trying, I believe he won't allow you to become pregnant until He knows you are ready. So rest assured that when it happens, it will be the right time!

they do have chewable prenatals.. but I think you have to get a prescription for those.

I can only swollow pills so big. So I know how you feel. I was told to take just a regular multi-vitamin (like flinstones, lol) I took centrum chewables.. and also take folic acid pills on top of it. Then you basically have your prenatal. The multi-vitamin may already have some folic acid, but they still said to take one of those a day.. and they are really tiny pills.

Thank you so much for your excellent advice! You are so right about God knowing the right time. My dh thinks the same too. He's like, "We're ready, so why wait?" So TTC in August it is!

We had 1,100 in an emergency fund. I found a sense of security in it. And then I get a call today from my sweet husband...1,000 car repair (mandatory). This makes it harder to go TTC in Sept, but we are going to trust Jesus to provide...we know it's time. Can I just say though.....this really stinks!

Oh we've been there a few times! lol I'm sorry this happened. But yeah, you are right! God will provide! It's ok to vent sometimes though!

Hello. I thought I would add into the mix if that's ok.

Long story short, we found out that my husband does not produce sperm and have decided to start out doing AI with an anomynous sperm donor. That's the long story short of the last 3 years. I just had my second AI earlier today. I hope this is it, but I'll submit to God's will. The plan is to try this 6 months and then look seriously into adoption.

Most friends and family are not only supportive, but they think this is as facsinating as my husband and I do. A few people, however, think it's weird, unatural and awful. Not sure how to take that.

Anyway, I've been researching this for the last 3 years now and know one couple who has gone through it for their two kids. If you have any questions, shoot.

Regardless, I would sure appreciate some prayers, as I will also be praying for all of you. My husband and I have been married 7 years and we are as ready as we are going to be.

praying this works out for you darling, I now how much you want this baby.

Hi, can I be nosey and take you up on that? When you do get pg from AI, are you going to let people think it was achieved the natural way while you are pg and then let them know otherwise, when the baby is born? This is the first thing that came to mind when I read this. In your difficult situation, I would be most concerned about the precious baby not looking like my husband, yet people saw me pregnant. Again, I'm just being nosey, forgive me if this question is insensitive, I promise I'm not trying to be.
I hope Jesus gives you and your husband the desire of your heart very soon.

You are not being nosey at all. This isn't, like, mainstream, so those questions are normal.

First of all, I believe in being open about it, and as soon as the child is old enough to understand, telling him or her. These types of "secrets" only do more harm if the kid finds out later from someone else - and if it's kept secret, 99% of the time, they will find out from someone else and will resent you for it. As far as family and friends, I'm also going to be open. Yes, it's as private a matter as I want it to be, but also, this is a child that we both want - if someone can't see past the circumstances of their birth, then it's their problem. Frankly, not many people know about this option, and how relatively inexpensive it is, compared to adoption. I really don't mind talking about it for that reason.

As far as my husband is, this was more his idea than mine!! This is important, because I don't think doing it this way would work if the husband isn't for it 110% - his name will be on the birth certificate, though, and that's all he cares about. He's also works in the medical field (pharmacist), and I've found that people I know in the medical field are more likely to be accepting of going the medical route. However, while he doesn't see a problem with this, he has issues with IVF, not in general, but with me going through it because he knows about the hormones you have to take. He has patients going through it and they are having a tough time, he just wants to spare me that. That's why we decided that after 6 or so months of AI, we will then look more seriously into adoption.

I will say, that while he never had a problem with the sperm donor idea, he did not take the situation with his body well. We took 3 years to go through his tests because once he got a test result, he would freak out for months before he accepted it and moved on to the next test. In fact, there is one more test that he would have to do to find out if he produces any sperm, but it (GRAPHIC WARNING) involved being put completely under and a biopsy of down there be taken, that had a risk of making him have EFD. He didn't want to go through that, and frankly, I didn't blame him. We aren't testing for a life-threatening illness, so I don't feel like I had the right to make him go through it.

Guys take their infertility much worse than women do - it's their manhood. If anyone is going through this, I highly suggest giving them space and time to get through it themselves, while also constantly reassuring him that you love him - all of him - just the way he is.

Today, I woke up from a nap with Hubby and asked him "What do you think of the name Rebekah?" His response was a groggy "it's a name..it starts with an R...*snore*" Does anyone else do this to their husband? Just spring names on him and ask him what he thinks?
