Where you on clomid, or are you Felinity? Im afraid to go on it, I heard it can increase chances of having twins. Anyone tried Isotonic OPC-3. A friend of mine recommended it for fertility, not sure what it is though.

I've been trying to increase my overall health, but I'm likely to take Clomid as my first "official" doctor-supervised treatment. (My doctor concurs with lovesdolphins that the risk of twins is very small with Clomid, especially if you don't naturally ovulate very well. Apparently, many cases of twins from Clomid come from women who ovulate fine without the medicine.) I haven't heard of Isotonic OPC-3, but soy isoflavones are said to mimic some of the effects of Clomid.

Clomid can increase the chance of twins, but only slightly.

As for me, I'm having surgery on 3/25 a laporoscopy, and hysteroscopy. It will be an outpatient procedure, and I hope it gets rid of the polyp on the interior of my uterus, and make sure the exterior of my uterus is all clear as well.

I will have my period shortly after the surgery, and after that cycle I will start Clomid. I am very excited to be moving forward with fertility treatments, as these past few years I have felt very stagnant.

I certainly understand feeling stagnant! We're coming up on two years of trying to conceive, and I don't think I've even ovulated.

I hope these treatments do the trick for you, LD.

I'm finally see a gynecologist on March 10 about my wacky periods (they have not been back to my pre-Pill days ever since I got off the Pill almost a year ago).. hopefully I can get some answers.

Hey Xin

I don't feel right posting in here but I just wanted to say that when I stopped the pill after 4 years on it it took almost a year to even get a period. It took nearly 3 years to get my old cycle back which was painful unbearable periods in my case.

Some people are back to normal instantly but for others I believe it takes longer than what they warn you.

Wow, thanks for sharing! I hope it doesn't take 3 years for me, because I'm really frustrated with my periods right now.

just recently my husband and i decided to "start planning" for this next phase of our marriage: children :prayer:.

on valentines morning, we decided no protection for us!, not in lieu of v-day by any means whatsoever, being that we are anti-valentinist, but just out of nowhere we decided that God was going to take care of us, despite the economy, which was what was keeping us, until now.

from then on, we haven't bought protection for over a month now, I think. so, we'll see ....

I don't remember whether we've discussed this before on this thread: Has anyone tried reproductive acupuncture? There's a clinic that appears very highly regarded in my city that specializes in this, and I'm thinking about giving it a try to sort out some of my ovulatory issues.

I had a new gyno appt. this past friday, and my new gyno. is amazing!!!! She sat down and talked to me for 30 minutes and really wanted to figure out why Im not having periods, etc. She is going to get the blood work and records from my old gyno. and then she will call me for another appt. to do more blood work that my old gyno. didnt do and discuss fertility options.

That's kind of my thought. The only thing I could lose is money, I guess...

I feel like my chronic lack of ovulation is really the sign of a bigger problem (well, PCOS, obviously...) but my doctors so far have addressed it by prescribing me birth control, Metformin, and suggesting I lose weight. Which is, of course, a great plan, except that the hormonal issues interfere. There's nothing more maddening than taking the Pill because you want to conceive, y'know? I sort of feel like if we could get my body into ovulating shape, and get my metabolism somewhere above a standstill, I could make some progress on my own.

Why would you have to take birth control if you want to conceive? Thats odd! hmm...
Definetly getting at a healthier weight will help sort out your problems, I had an eating disorder for 8 1/2 years and been in recovery for 1 year and over this year since Ive been eating healthier Ive noticed a big difference in how I feel. Everything in my body works SO much better now, well except for my reproductive system, lol..but I did alot of damage to that the most.

Well, my hormones are (obviously) wonky, so the idea is that staying on the pill would regulate my hormones as much as possible. Then at the end of a cycle, I'd quit the pill and take Clomid and see if I can trick my body into ovulating. It sometimes works, but the chemicals scare me.

well, I will be starting the pill at the end of the week - we don't want me bleeding during my surgery at the end of the month. Hopefully the month following I will be put on clomid. I hate the idea of taking the pill, but I need to in order to have this surgery, and I don't want to put it off any longer.

Have y'all heard of soy isoflavones? I tried it for a couple of months and I seemed to ovulate, but of course I didn't get pregnant. I think it probably has something to do with my polyp.

Felinity - I am always prayin' for you as well.
