The question on if certain things were spiritually dangerous.

The answer to the question isn't the issue as much as it is my lack of trust in God and not having an audible voice-God doesnt speak audibly.

I see, my advice is to have faith completely, give your whole heart to god and trust.

How can you tell if he's said no to a certain prayer, or has answered it?

Or if he's saying not to do something?

It's not always clear in my opinion. Sometime the answer can come from someone else who doesn't know about our request. Sometimes it can come directly to our mind. Other times it can be good to ask the advice of someone else.

Then we just do what we think it is best to do.

I like the verse 30 of John chapter 5 where Jesus said that he was not doing anything or passing judgement without consulting the Father first. In the translation of Eugene Peterson it says something like: I listen, then I decide.

It's good to start with God, asking for his direction. Maybe have someone else advice. If the answer seem clear, good. We just proceed. But if the answer is not that clear, we just choose what we think is the best direction. God will not reproach it to us.

Abraham made a bad move when he went with his wife's servant. But he thought that he was accomplishing God's promise that way.

Of course it has some consequences. But God never made him a reproach for it because he was seeking to do His will in all that. And that's what's important. Seeking His will and be willing to do it... asking Him the strength also to do it.

Should I pray for a situation that god would use to say truth to me with?

Sure, I will tonight, but I need to know exactly what your question is so I can ask. You had many of them.

My question is-at this stage in my life, would praying for souls to come to God (outside the context of helping and being a light to those I am around) risk the salvation of those I know or make it harder?

Specifically, souls I don't know.

Even if God told me Yes it wouldn't be an issue but my issue is this limbo like state of not trusting him-he doesnt speak with an audible voice.
