Donald Trump's pick for NASA chief shares the president's ambitious Mars goals.

In his inaugural address on Jan. 20, Trump said the U.S. "will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the stars and stripes on the planet Mars."


Jared Isaacman, the billionaire entrepreneur and private astronaut Trump has tapped to lead the agency, echoed those desires during his nomination hearing today (April 9) before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

The Martians will only have to pay a base rate 10% tariff in the short term to fund the America-Mars space program.

Obviously I was being facetious with my post above due to Trump's tariffs on Australia, partly due to the standoff about Australian and American beef.

However I believe there will be a settlement on Mars sooner or later. I've long believed God is going to drive us off the planet, and settlements on Mars and the moon would necessarily be a part of that.

Whether it begins to happen during Trump's presidency is another issue. By the time it does, US and Chinese rivalries may have faded into the background with the sort of earthly environment we look like bequething to our descendants.

This is where a personality like Trump or i,ndeed Musk makes a big difference. It is good to see things are finally moving toward Mars after 50 years of waiting for that to happen since Apollo.
