I would prefer to be that one being taken from, than the one receiving from those who have their possessions taken.
Yes, I have not problem giving to Ceasar what is Ceasars.......I do not assume, however, that what is taken from me is given to the poor. I still have a desire to do more for the poor, than pay taxes. So you should have no opposition to paying higher taxes for the benefit of poor people.
There are some who choose to have less than the rich have.
Yes, I have no problem giving to Ceasar what is Ceasar's. I do not assume, however, that what is taken from me is given to the poor. I still have a desire to do more for the poor, than pay taxes.
That is a huge problem, but it's not just about taxes. The policy behind the currency supply itself promotes such behavior, which is far more systemic. The laws are set up so that people with access to power don't have to pay much in taxes if they don't want to, they can shelter money away or even waste it without much harm coming to them. People like Donald Trump can make stupid, risky business decisions, lose money, and write it off their taxes. A small businesswoman simply can't do that.
Note, that just become one appears to be poor in your eyes does not mean that they view themselves as poor. The poster I was speaking to had no desire to become rich with me.......yet I doubt he is poor....nah he may, in fact have riches unmatched by any amount of dollars you can obtain in this world.Poor people are poor because they are unable to get enough money.
The poverty Gospel. Many believe themselves holier the lower the number in the bank account. Some believe that can obtain riches in heaven, by foregoing material items on earth. Some believe they can purchase their ticket to heaven with monies they refuse to earn and take here on earth. What logical reason would they have to choose poverty?
It is safe to assume if the names Social Security and Medicare are on your pay stub, your taxes will be for those two programs.
I do not judge what others do, as I am held accountable for my own thoughts and actions. I did not suggest that taking from the poor and giving to the rich was good or bad......only that I would feel the same for this scenario that I would for the reverse.
It seems that many would praise taking from the rich to give to the poor, but frown on the exact opposite. Arent they both the same? how is taking from one different than taking from another? Are we to use mammon as a judge of righteousness? Is righteousness determined only after viewing ones bank account?
Let us frown upon the taking from the poor and the rich alike.....if we desire a change. Saying that, taking from one is ok, but the other isnt.....just look at money to determine what is right....sends an erroneous message into the atmosphere.
I'd advise against it. When the devil takes something from me, I tell him "You can Have it, Cause God's got something better(for me)!" Sometimes we have to clean house to make room for more....And I dare not refill the spots with the old. Therefore "And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also."What if the poor are simply taking back what the rich stole?
So you should have no opposition to paying higher taxes for the benefit of poor people.

You have everything already....even after something is taken.
Would you mind paying an additional 20% in federal taxes to help the poor?

Most of us know or learn at some point the fact that many of the rich pay a lower percentage of their income in taxes than a middle income family. Example: someone like Buffet paying only 16% or 17% (while some of the very and ultra rich pay even far lower effective rates than that!), while his secretary, making vastly less income than Buffet pays a much higher rate than Buffet, such as 20%, or more. (Even though the income tax rates make it seem to most people as if the reverse would be the norm.)WE need do nothing with the rich......we only need to make the poor rich for no one to be rich. However, as you can see from the post above....there are some who choose to have less than the rich have......and such is their right. Who are we to from extra money on them who do not desire it? For Jesus said that we will have the poor always.
Is this thread about eliminating taxation? I have no issues will giving taxes to the government and 10% to the churches.
The title is ironical since social welfare programs are paid for, in part, by the pocket books of the wealthy. Social welfare programs may be justifiable, perhaps preferred, but let’s not delude ourselves into thinking the money redistributed into those programs through taxation of the more affluent is to “take from the poor.” The money the poor receives is not their own money but they are receiving money someone else labored to receive as income to compensate for labor performed.

The subsidy to farmers to mitigate the the loss of incodme directly attributable to Trump’s trade war with China isn’t analogous to social welfare programs. These farmers aren’t receiving subsidies because they are poor and destitute.
Who do you think is getting the money listed on pay stubs as going to Social Security?
