Hi bekkilyn,
Thanks for your response. You responded:
Right. The Scriptures do give us quite a lot of information about the end times. Just as the Scriptures gave the Jews quite a lot of information about Jesus' first coming. They didn't recognize their Messiah and so it's entirely possible that a lot of christians won't recognize the last days are upon us, until Jesus steps out to call those who are his out of danger's way. But I believe that God has given us signs to make us aware of these things coming. Even his disciples asked him about the signs that would precede the last days.
Jesus replied that there would be wars and rumors of war. We have a lot of that today. In the last ten years, the world has been involved in literally dozens of wars. Some large and participated in by many nations. Some small and only between one nation and another. Certainly we have rumors of war. Right now there are rumors of war concerning Iran, N. Korea, Venezuela. Over those same past ten years there have been rumors of war between Israel and her neighbors. Various African nations and Russia and her neighbors.
So, I think that the discerning believer might consider that we certainly have more active wars and rumors of war, than we've ever had.
Daniel spoke of a 'covenant' to be made and most scholars seem to believe that this covenant will be some sort of peace accord with Israel. Ok, right now we have this administration making a big deal that the 'greatest peace agreement that has ever been made' is soon coming.
The Scriptures tell us that this beast to come will rise up out of the sea. Most scholars believe that this reference of rising up out of the sea, means that he/it will come up out of the peoples of the earth. Ok, the U.S. has, for about the last 300 years, been built from peoples of practically all the nations of the earth. We are the most war mongering nation upon the earth. We try, through the power of our money, to control many, many nations of the earth. These could well be clear signs that we are the beast! We are doing everything within our power to at least make it seem like we are the rulers of the world. Trying to tell many, many of the other nations upon the earth what they can and can't do. Certainly as one looks upon all the nations of the earth, we could easily be seen as the most beastly of them.
I'm certainly not making any sure claim that America is the beast or that Donald Trump is the false prophet. I'm merely making people aware that these understandings 'could' be correct. As we watch them unfold we need to just have an eye on the prophecies of the Scriptures. One day, I do know that the prophecies of the Scriptures will come to fruition. I do believe that just as with Israel and her Messiah, God has given the born again believer today plenty of signs to know that the last days are upon us. Jesus even said to his disciples, "When you see all these things come to pass...know that your redemption draws nigh." So, I think Jesus certainly expected us to be watching for the fulfillment of the 'signs' that are found in God's word.
I'm just watching.
God bless,

I don't have any firm "end time" beliefs on exactly how it will all come to pass other than Jesus's return in God's timing BUT I have to say that the verses you have referenced in this paragraph have been on my mind for decades considering the dark places to where American political conservatism has been leading many Christians, a dark place that could only result in someone like Trump or worse, and there is so much deception and willful ignorance now concerning this man that many cannot even see how anti-Christ these values are when compared to what Jesus actually taught.
