Laura Ingraham says Trump, not Obama, responsible for the economy

Laura Ingraham called out Democrats Wednesday for giving former President Barack Obama credit for the current economy, saying that assertion is false and that President Trump is solely responsible.

"I have a novel idea tonight. Let's introduce a concept called 'facts' into this equation," Ingraham said on "The Ingraham Angle." "First off, Obama benefited from the... natural recovery associated with the terrible recession. But even then, economic growth ground to a halt by the end of his presidency."

"It turns out that the money Americans kept, which Pelosi derided as crumbs, it boosted our economy beyond what anyone expected," Ingraham said. "Unemployment is now near an all-time low, and the benefits of this are being felt far and wide."

The host hit critics of the president who predicted the economy would tank once he took office, asking "how are any of those people still working after those predictions?"

Ingraham also pointed out that Americans know who is responsible for the economy.

"Well, instead of calamity, we all know we're living in the best economy in decades and most Americans know whom to thank," Ingraham said. "A new Gallup poll, as we mentioned earlier, found that 62 percent credit Trump with a booming economy, compared to just 51 percent who said it's because of Obama."

The economy runs and grows on confidence. Investors and businesses were holding their breath all through the Obama years wondering when and where the next regulatory shoe would drop, shutting down businesses and quelling investment. Money was piling up on the sidelines waiting for his reign to end. Trump opened a floodgate of confidence, and investment, with his deregulation and upbeat vision. So the kudos are his alone.

Nice! Your source shows (if you look at the graph they use instead of the propaganda around it) you notice the economy under president Trump is just continuing what President Obama started.

I agree. If one ignores the month to month fluctuations the graph shows a near perfect linear growth. Trump's effect actually may have been to prevent an even more dramatic growth by his ill considered trade wars. However, the USA may reap large benefits by the near collapse of the Chinese economy caused by the virus epidemic.

Laura Ingraham says Trump, not Obama, responsible for the economy

Laura Ingraham called out Democrats Wednesday for giving former President Barack Obama credit for the current economy, saying that assertion is false and that President Trump is solely responsible.

"This is obvious gaslighting since the new results show that President Trump’s best year of job growth was 2.314 million in 2018 (the first year of the tax cut) but it falls short of any of Obama’s last three years."

M-Bob you’re gonna make yourself sick, swallowing all that propaganda. You might want to leaven it with some more conscientious reporting.

Everyone knows it. The left just won’t admit it. 4 more years. Guaranteed.

Are you really ignoring the proof which has been shown in this thread that at the very least Trump already inherited a rising economy thanks to Obama? That Trump's numbers don't even compare to Obama's who inherited a craptastic economy?

You really have to ask if Trump supporters are going to ignore proof?

By now, that's just a given.

Trump fires back after Obama claims credit for economic boom: 'Con job'

“President Trump reversed every single failed Obama-era economic policy, and with it, reversed the floundering Obama/Biden economy,” Trump campaign national press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said. “Obama and Biden orchestrated the worst economic recovery in modern history.”

She added: “By contrast, though, deregulating, lowering taxes, and supporting free-market policies, President Trump has created the hottest economy on record, with unemployment hitting generational lows and all-time lows for African Americans, Hispanics, the disabled, veterans and many other hard-working Americans.”

“Paychecks are growing at the fastest pace in a decade and twice as fast for low- and middle-income Americans,” she continued. “It’s no wonder Democrats seek to take credit for the Trump economy after eight years of betraying blue-collar workers and inflicting pain upon the middle class as Americans everywhere suffered. But the failed days of Democrat stagnation are over, and the soaring Trump economy is here to stay.”

Hi MM,

I find the position being pushed here as highly unlikely. Mr. Trump wasn't even in the picture, as far as having any sway over government finances and policies, from '09 (the deepest cut of the crash from which we have been recovering from) until 2017. I have actually been alive for the last 12 years and it is certainly my testimony that the nation, even the world, has been 'recovering' for quite a while longer than Mr. Trump has had anything to do with national politics.

Facts: In '09 the stock market hit just above 6,000 points. In '09 the unemployment rate was just a hair shy of 10% nationally.

In 2016 the stock market was somewhat above 19,000 points. In 2016 the unemployment rate was 4.7% nationally.

Now, I certainly do not want to take from President Trump what he rightfully deserves and certainly the economy and unemployment and the markets have continued to improve over the last 3 years, but...

That President Trump is somehow responsible for the recovery from the crash in '09? I find that to be a fairly laughable proposition and certainly not supported by the historical facts. However, as has been pointed out in previous posts, facts don't seem to matter much these days. We now live in the days of 'alternative facts'.

Finally, according to our continued national debt, it would seem that most of President Trump's initiatives are being financed on borrowed money. Since President Trump took office, we are spending as much or more than we were before his administration, and our national revenue has gone down pretty severely. Those facts can easily be checked by anyone who cares about them.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Ratings. FNC has been number one among cable news audiences since supplanting CNN in 2002. Until the start of 2002, CNN was the number one cable news network in the ratings.
