I don't know if Trump broke the law here or not. The DOJ hasn't charged him with anything yet and there has been no conviction. If he is charged and convicted he should pay the penalty for any crime he committed.

I just wish Clinton would have faced the same thing. A searcha warrant and siezure of all the items before she got rid of anything. As it was the FBI did admit she broke the law but never faced any criminal charges for it. Fair is fair.

If Trump faces charges it's right if he broke the law. But it will show how corrupt the system is or at least was at the time Clinton broke the law.
Hillary had classified records in her possession. Trump declassified the records.

Trump did not remove any classified material that he knows of, Trump had full authority to declassify the material and he said he did, and he was not required whatsoever to follow any procedure.
There are laws regarding declassifying documents. Once documents are declassified, anyone could look at these documents. If the were declassified would have the classified stamp crossed out and stamped, “Declassified.” Trump stole top secret U.S. documents, then lied when he got caught.

No, the president and vice president are specifically exempt by the Executive Order of President Obama.

How ironic. He never thought it might apply to him.

As someone mentioned earlier "If they can search a presidents house for stealing classified material, they can do it to any of us."

Yeah, that's the idea. We are all accountable. As Trump is slowly beginning to realize.

Well there are the 15 boxes he already turned over, but that was not all and there was enough evidence for the Trump appointed head of the FBI to convince a Trump appointed Judge to issue a warrant to search Trump's residence for more. So the answer is definitely yes.

Mishandling is a word that has a meaning. Evidence is also a word that has a meaning. At least until someone decides those words need new meanings in order to advance some political agenda.

Nothing in that document exempts the President or Vice-President from any rules, or can you actually show where in that document it does.

Somebody told you that this EO is applicable, but you didn't actually read it did you? If you really did, you can show us where it says what you claim it says without a generic link.
No problem. The most disturbing part is that Trump made it clear, at the beginning of his presidency, that like previous presidents he has authority to declassify any material he wishes. They never bothered to challenge, all of these years, but today are concerned the American people might elect him again:
Trump stands by 'absolute right' to share sensitive information with Russia
For example, Joe could have shared classified information with our allies in Afghanistan, declassified it, although in Joe's case he never even mentioned the U.S. was pulling out and countries who came to our aid had stranded troops.
And it's not just challenge, they physically raided his residence, as they did with other backers of Trump, with armed personnel.
Here is the section of the Executive Order that exempts him:
(b) Information originated by the incumbent President or the incumbent Vice President; the incumbent President's White House Staff or the incumbent Vice President's Staff; committees, commissions, or boards appointed by the incumbent President; or other entities within the Executive Office of the President that solely advise and assist the incumbent President is exempted from the provisions of paragraph (a) of this section.

If documents are declassified, they are stamped declassified and the documents may be shared with the public. There are forms to fill out to document declassification. You need a security clearance to read classified documents. Trump does not have a security clearance.

Trump might have received criticism, if he declassified these documents that are yet marked classified. These documents contain information that other nations might use to harm us, even Russia or Iran. Trump stole the documents that are property of the United States of America, not Trump Inc. He is not a lawyer and made mistakes thinking he is the law.

Trump is no longer president. He has no right to be in possession of these documents. There is no record of them being declassified.

If charges can't be produced by this search, then something will have to be done about the nonsense.

He has no right to possess them anyhow as they are the property of the government. It doesn't even matter if they are classified, his work product while in the employ of the government belongs to the government as explained in the Presidential Records Act.

Trump had a standing order that what taken to his residence was declassified. Think about it, there would be no reason for him not to declassify such documents.

He was in the fog about what is required to declassify documents. Once a document is declassified, it may be put on the Internet, but not these. They thought they could decertify the 2020 presidential election by making Pence refuse to certify it. Guessed wrong about that one too. There are several investigations into his criminal behavior. He is getting old and his memory is not getting stronger.
