Trump’s erratic tweets on economic relief — over several hours — leave strategy unclear

As I've said in another post he's probably suffering from Covid despite putting on displays that he is not. His behavior is bizarre even for him. The whole debacle with squashing all stimulus talks just to do a complete 180-degree about-face just proves this.

This guy is toast.

From the article:
About seven hours [after calling off stimulus talks], Trump appeared to reverse himself in a new string of tweets.

After canceling talks, he publicly urged members of his own administration to work with congressional Democrats to approve additional federal stimulus measures.

At 9:54 p.m., he called on the House and Senate to “IMMEDIATELY” approve $25 billion in new aid for the airline industry, which has already begun laying off thousands of employees after federal aid programs expired last week.

At 10:18 p.m., he called for Congress to direct $1,200 payments to millions of Americans and said he wanted immediate aid for small businesses.

“I am ready to sign right now,” he wrote. “Are you listening Nancy?”

He was referring to House Speaker Pelosi, though he “tagged” his Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and other congressional leaders in the Twitter post.

All of these new positions unfolded through Trump’s Twitter account and not in any public statements.

He hasn’t made a public appearance since returning to the White House Monday evening from the hospital, where he was being treated for the novel coronavirus. During his hospital stay, he called on Congress to join together to pass a stimulus deal, a viewpoint that he seemed to shift away from Tuesday only to shift back to it again in the evening.

Trump’s initial effort to cancel the talks on Tuesday sent the stock market sharply lower. His push late Tuesday evening to revive stimulus talks sent stock market futures sharply higher.

Democrats have for months rejected the idea of passing stimulus funding on a piecemeal basis, instead insisting on one comprehensive package to aid the economy, although Pelosi has suggested Congress could act first to help the airline industry. The president’s demands Tuesday night also left out addressing the expiration of additional federal unemployment benefits for tens of millions of jobless Americans.

The title implies that Trump at one time had a clear strategy.

Trump is confused and weakened, doesn't have a clear strategy

Given that this President is a self-proclaimed "stable genius," there's no need for a strategy because everything Trump says and does, even in a confused and weakened state, comes from a "superior" being - who barely tolerates those with lesser intellects who surround him!

If Trump can't succeed under the current set of rules, we should all accept that as a "stable genius," he's entitled to change the rules by tilting the "field of play" in his favor!

Some say that the steroid medication might be a factor in this situation.
Yes, this is what my friend who is in the medical field is saying. What is crazy is that his doctors and advisors aren’t stepping in. He is not mentally sound to be making decisions and no one is intervening.

Given that the President is still the Commander-in-Chief, his doctors are also members of the military and Trump has never been shy when it comes to pressing whatever advantage he has to get whatever he wants!

If VP Pence, congressional Republicans and the Cabinet are all unwilling to place their political careers at risk by invoking the 25th Amendment for the benefit of the nation, one can hardly expect a handful of military doctors to stand alone by questioning the mental competency of their own Commander!

Both the House and Senate are in recess until the election in order for candidates to campaign. Trump forgot.

No. The Senate is coming back 10/19. They will come to confirm a judge to take healthcare away from 20 million in a pandemic---but not to help the unemployed, struggling businesses, and the evicted.

The rumor was the stimulus plan will not be discussed until after the election.
