Long overdue. Those platforms are de facto the public square now so speech generally should not be restricted on them.

...so you want the government to control them instead? Because that's the only way it would become a free speech issue isn't it?

If it's ever possible to completely shut somebody out of public discourse by banning them from CF for their religious or political views, yes. But I don't think getting banned from CF would have that effect on anybody.

Banning virtually everybody on the right from social networks, on the other hand...

Is being blocked from Twitter tantamount to being completely shut out of public discourse?

A political movement almost in its entirety being blocked from Twitter sure is.

This is good, in the tradition of Andrew Jackson and Teddy Roosevelt , Trump is breaking up monopolies, he needs to go after Google, Twitter, Amazon, Facebook and others who persecute Social Conservatives, Christians, American Firsters, Trump supporters, pro-lifers among others. The Oligarchy is using big business to squash free speech of the opponents of liquid Modernity.

...if social conservatives think they aren't being heard why don't they just start their own platforms where all those "mean old liberals" will have to leave them alone?

The point of antitrust laws is to ensure that economic conditions permit that...

...I thought it meant if they want start their own there's nothing unfairly stopping them from doing so. right? Where does anti-trust fit in if they simply want to force a company to post their stuff? I mean as far as I know there's nothing stopping conservatives from starting their own facebook platform where they can post any and all of the things they want to post, right? They can have Alex Jones 24/7 if that's what they want.
tulc(still thinks that's an easy fix)

The problem is that the U.S. needs to take antitrust action against the Asian companies first. Over there, antitrust laws largely do not exist. And when they come over here, they don't care. Why are the American companies getting busted up while the Asian companies go free?

U.S. Is Moving Toward Major Antitrust Probe of Tech Giants

Google, Facebook and Apple Fall Amid Antitrust Scrutiny

The President has in the past spoken up for those who have been deplatformed by major tech companies who did not find their political views congenial. It appears that now he's turning his words into actions...

Long overdue. Those platforms are de facto the public square now so speech generally should not be restricted on them.

"De-platforming" conservatives isn't anti-competitive. These companies may be guilty of anti-competitive practices (I'm frankly amazed Apple has gotten away with theirs for so long), but that's not one of them.
