  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A lot of them are easily manipulated. They listen to the same leaders and same sources of information, it is amazing how quickly they can be swayed.
Oh, the irony...

I disagree with the practice of foreigners coming here on a student visa and then engaging in American politics. They should be deported.
Are foreign students not to be allowed to speak their minds on our soil? Is the first amendment not a grantee of freedom to all in our country? What are we teaching these students if not to value our tradition of freedom of speech?

We saw what Hitler's National Socialist German Workers' Party did to Jews. We cannot let that happen again. Antisemitism has no place in America.
Hamas is more an enemy of the Palestinians than is Israel. Hamas are the cause and catalyst of this war. The sooner they're gone the better it will be for everyone. God Bless.

Genesis 12:3
English Standard Version
3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
I don't bother reading bible quotes. I expect people to tell me what they think rather than quote from a book. Whatever version. Just so you know.

But as you are here, if someone whispered in my ear that the best way to solve the problem in the Middle East was to blow to bits, burn and bury in the rubble of their own homes tens of thousands of men, women and children and someone else whispered that it was morally wrong, which one would be Jesus and which one would be Satan? In your opinion.

A most unusual position to take on a Christian Forum. Surely indeed.
If I was discussing Christianity from a theological viewpoint then it would be an unusual position to take. But I can't recall the last time I did that. In fact, as an atheist, I am not allowed in the sections of the forum where those discussions take place. I'm generally interested in questions of philosophy, politics and current affairs. And in discussing those I prefer to know what someone thinks about the topic in general or what they think about what I have posted.

That said, if that's the response I get then I don't mind a quote from someone that emphasises their position ('as Churchill once said...' or 'as Jesus said at the sermon on the mount..."). But a bible reference as the answer in itself? I don't bother.

By far. I read the book "Son of Hamas". Hamas is a demonic, murderous, organization that is widely supported by Gazans and leftists around the world.

No, it's relevant. You have said that students are supporting some sort of left wing agenda which should be stopped. Is their conviction that tens of thousands of men women and children who are being killed is wrong some Satanic suggestion as you have implied? Or would it be more reasonable that on the other shoulder we have Jesus telling them it's morally abhorrent?

You've not been here for long so you'll not likely know my view. Which is that the original attack by Hamas was an affront to humanity. And that Israel has every right to protect itself. I fully support them in that endeavour. But what they are doing in Gaza is bordering on genocide. So I also support those who are demanding that they stop.

It's quite easy holding on to those two views. They are not incompatible. And I completely reject any suggestion that people should be prevented from presenting their views on either.

So what is your view? Is it Satan telling people to demand that it should be stopped? Or Jesus?

The hostages have not been released:

The release of hostages held by Hamas must be the top priority in any plan for Gaza’s future, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said Thursday in an interview with Fox News, stressing the urgent need to dismantle Hamas’s control of the territory.
“First, getting the hostages out,” Nahyan said. “We need calm in Gaza, and we need an authority that is not Hamas that controls Gaza.” Only after these conditions are met, he said, can long-term reconstruction and stability take place.

The foundation of the conflict is Arab hatred for Jews and for Israel. Hamas is a demonic entity. The claims that Israel is committing genocide are preposterous.

The best thing that could happen for the Gazans would be to move to Libya and rid themselves of Hamas.

When Egypt laid down their arms there was peace. When Jordan laid down their arms there was peace. When the so-called "Palestinians" lay down their arms there will be peace.

The only reason that Hamas and the Palestinian Authority have hung on this long is due to the countless millions given to them by western leftists through their governments.

Jesus isn’t telling them to celebrate the deaths of thousands in Gaza nor their living conditions. It’s the result of hyper political blindness coupled with an absence of empathy and questionable sense.

You've not been here for long so you'll not likely know my view. Which is that the original attack by Hamas was an affront to humanity. And that Israel has every right to protect itself. I agree with your position and concur.

The primary motivation for protests against the war are found in the golden rule. Loving one’s neighbor as ourselves. Many equate silence and inaction as agreement or moral culpability. They’re making their voices heard in light of that.

The hostages have not been released:
Which has nothing to do with the death of tens of thousands of men, women and children. It goes without saying that the vast majority of them were innocent of any wrong-doing. Rather than tritely posting that comment why not say what it implies? Shall I ask the question so that there's no doubt about what I mean?

It's a depressingly simple question. Is all this death and destruction justifiable? Does the end justify any means? It's now what I would describe as genocide. It reminds me oh so very much of what happened in Bosnia and to an even greater extent in Rwanda. We all stood back, knowing exactly what was happening. And did...nothing.

When all this is over, whatever the outcome, maybe somebody in the future will ask you what was done to prevent such an atrocity. What did you do, grandad? While all this was happening, when so many were being killed, what did you do to try to stop it? And to out collective shame, many people will answer: 'Stop it? Why, I actually supported it!'

Is this going to be the usual MO? Simply avoid the question? It might be, because not many people would like to address it.

Is Satan suggesting to many: 'Keep killing. Maintain the bombing. Continue the destruction. The number of deaths don't matter. Don't let anyone distract you from what you need do. Seek revenge. It's all completely justifiable'.

Is that voice drowning out the other one? The one that's desperately pleading: 'Please stop. In the name of my Father, please stop'.

Or maybe you think it's the other way around. Satan wants it to stop. Satan is encouraging people to protest against the thousands upon thousands of deaths. That's what your position seems to be. And maybe Jesus is the one urging death and destruction.

Can you explain which one it is as far as you are concerned?

The claims that Israel is committing genocide are preposterous.
We'll see what the International Court of Justice thinks once it has deliberated on the evidence and arguments presented.

But the court's preliminary order at least found that the arguments were plausible that elements of the Genocide Convention apply.

You can side with that irrelevant court; I'll side with God and faithful Jews.
