Well in return for $400 million I'm sure as a businessman he's open to it!!! He is after all the President who by executive order allowed American businesses to bribe foreign officials without fear of prosecution.
In "return for $400 million?" The article flat out said that the offer was to temporary use the aircraft. More baseless slander to feed the mob. It is deliberately misleading garbage like the article provided in the OP that has caused the country to be so divided and full of hatred.

And usable by him just like the library.
It will be kept in a special parking spot in the library parking lot. Next to the handicapped section. ;)

Has Trump acted dishonestly or illegally
Yes and yes.
in Saudi Arabia's favor?
Yes.

Or is this just more nonsense being exploited as political warfare.
Or is it yet another unscrupulous act you’re giving a pass to simply because it’s coming from Trump?

So the Saudi royalty is discussing the possibility of Trump temporarily using one of their luxury aircraft...
Do you know how much it would cost to bring it up to Air Force 1 specs? No, me neither. But the figure would be astronomical. The aircraft isn't simply a comfortable means for getting from A to B. It's not the case that they'll take out a few seats and put in a bed and lots of gold fittings. The thing is a mega secure command post.

This is just another dumb idea that has tickled Trump's ego but will go nowhere.

Virtually impossible.
It would make a fine piece at the library. The actual plane that one of the most controversial presidents actually used. For future generations to see first hand.

He won't be using it. Would you think that it would be OK for him to accept a mobile phone or a laptop from someone for government use? No? Worried about security? Darn right you'd be worried. But you think it's OK for him to fly around in someone else's plane?

You just have to be kidding me...

For the record, nobody should be accepting anything from Qatar if they wish to be seen as someone who embraces western values... So Trump, if you're accepting this "gift", you're wrong, and you should've told them to shove it.

I think the answer is clear if one is looking to be consistent.

The right thing to do would be to give a direct and full-throated repudiation to any entity/group/person who receives any sort of substantial financial backing/gift/support from the nation of Qatar. Right???

Or is the answer "no".......for "reasons"?

Hey, why not come to whatever point it is that you want to make without all this traipsing around the periphery, rewording the point that was being made and looking for a gotcha? We all look forward to your whataboutism in due course.

Okay fine...if you want me to be more direct... we have hundreds of thousands of progressives cheering on other groups that happily accept a lot of money from Qatar for whatever their endeavors are (and by "whatever" I mean, "bashing Jews"). Yet, they want people to be outraged about this one?

Qatar pumped 4.2 billion dollars into the US university systems to influence "academic perspectives"

Qatar gave 1.3 billion to Hamas

The 400M to Trump is the huge problem?

If they're a bunch of rich "lucked into oil/natural gas" influence peddlers, then it needs to be called out universally and not just in the scenarios where it serves a specific political narrative.

Republicans and MAGAs and Foxnews and other right wing propaganda shows were all aghast, calling for blood about a payment to Biden of $200,000 which turned out to be a family loan repayment weeks after Joe first loaned the $200,000 to his brother.

And now we get a $400,000,000 "gift" to Trump personally from Qatar and those same people are , "Well, nothing to see here folks, so what if they give Him a gift, it doesn't mean anything, just that they love Him (pbuh) as much as we do."

Yes. If it comes from Qatar or Canada. It's wrong. Period.

Now if you want to start a thread on political hypocrisy (which this isn't about) then click the relevant button, think of a catchy title and off you go.

After some introspection, the idea that the plane isn't a bribe because he only gets to use it temporarily seems like the most uninformed take in this thread.

If I throw a huge party for a US senator on a tropical island with champagne fountains, luxus car drag racing and a dozen high class prostitutes, does it not count as a bribe since the senator doesn't get to take the prostitutes home with him? Please.

I didn't know that you knew Senator Bob Menendez.

Please what.

While Biden is the type to be easily pushed around, I doubt this president would think twice about feeling any sort of "obligation" after receiving a gift. Trump would fire his own mother if she stepped out of line on his dime, and without a second thought.

But the point remains, when Trump is done with this plane, it will belong to the United States of America. Unlike a party or a prostitute as you compared it to.

So the new air force one will belong to not to the office of president but to Donald Trump. A bribe pure and simple.
I completely understand your concern. However, it is not a bribe unless it is accepted in exchange for a favor. Unless you have proof of that, all you have a is a worry, not a fact.

Funny how the bar in US politics for bribes is so much worse than in private business.
