truly strange, what happened?

here is a quote from Irenaues, an early church father, against heresies, in church history.

Those who are truly his disciples, receive grace from him,....perform works in his name, in order to promote the welfare of others, according to the gift that each one has received from Him. Some truly and certinally cast out devils. The result is that those who have been cleansed from evil spirits frequently both believe and join themselves to the church...still others heal the sick by laying their hands upon them, and the sick are made whole. What is more, as I have said, even the dead have been raised up and remained among us for years. What more can I say? it is not possible to name the number of gifts which the church throughout the whole world has received from God, in the name of Jesus Christ. irenaeus (c180, e/w) 1.409, Irenaues against heresies, book 1, chapter 32, section 4, Ad 200

Today many in the church proclaim that if a person does these things, they are part of a denomination, well you know what some say. not that what they would say would stop me.
But why has many in the church flipped the doctrine?

Chapter 2
Ignatius is condemned by Trojan, for not sacrificing to demon gods.

for inasmuch as I have Christ the King of heaven [within me], I destroy all the devices of these [evil spirits]...........................
For there is but one God, who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that are in them; and one Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, whose kingdom may I enjoy.” Trajan said, “Do you mean Him who was crucified under Pontius Pilate?” Ignatius replied, “I mean Him who crucified my sin, with him who was the inventor of it, “Him who bore my sin, with its inventor, upon the cross.” and who has condemned [and cast down] all the deceit and malice of the devil under the feet of those who carry Him in their heart.” Trajan said, “Dost thou then carry within thee Him that was crucified?” Ignatius replied, “Truly so; for it is written, ‘I will dwell in them, and walk in them.
