k. how does satellite tv work?
I think he is being sarcastic about how the human is prone to believing even the most ridiculous and unfathomable ideas in spite of what is obvious. IOW just a dig at a stereotype.

Ahh, ok. :)

I believe this Earth is a stationary plane; that it rests upon water; and that there is no such thing as the Earth moving, no such thing as the Earth's axis or the Earth's orbit. It is a lot of silly rot, born in the egotistical brains of infidels.

Can you see the stark difference in the "Christian" approach to belief verses the atheist approach? I believe (Because of personal experience) If one of us said something like that on a board full of you guys. You would have all succumb to a great need to correct the one who does not believe the way you do, to the point of ridicule and the embarrassment of the sideways thinker.

I think it is funny how those who claim tolerance often have none for anyone who does not fit their prerequisites of said tolerance, and those who are painted as extremist, show mercy where no quarter has been given to them.

To me that is something to "Snickle" at..

I've read that a couple of times and cannot work out which group your criticism is aimed at, or why.

Let's put it up again, just because it's so elegant:

Which part are you having difficulty understanding?

Who do you mean by "you guys"? Are you presuming the OP is from an atheist and is specifically an atheist message? Or does "you guys" refer to some previous other posters?

EDIT: Having now looked up Snickler's four other posts elsewhere, I see s/he does say s/he is an atheist, and does post in an unnecessarily antagonistic manner. So is it people who post in that manner you are addressing? Or other posters on this thread?

Well, it was true for Wilbur Glenn Voliva, "Flat Earth" theologian, at any rate. It was his quote- please credit him.

Luckily for us- the scriptures aren't a depiction of earth science- because that isn't the point of them. The entire point of our scriptures is to point to Christ- the Old Testament shows types and anti-types of Christ.

The scriptures are wholly unconcerned with those who would come along later and attempt to place their pro and anti science perspectives onto what the scriptures were saying- these folks are a misinformed lot and are missing the entire point. Flat earth, round earth, evolution, anti-evolution- you'll not find proof for your stance either way using the scriptures, because our scriptures are only concerned with the topic of our salvation.

If you look at post 6 which is the post you seem to be confused with I open with a direct quote from whom I am addressing. The term "you guys" groups all who look entrap, attack or belittle those who do not think as they do, despite what banner or icon of faith they are proclaiming. If my message addresses you or your thought processes then so be it. if it does not then know i was not speaking to you. I specifically chose to use a general term like "you guys" so as not to needlessly include everyone with in a specific group of belief, even if that belief is a collective agreement to not believe.

Snickler isn't saying he believes those things, he is saying what someone who took the Bible literally would have to say and so pointing out how crazy it is.
Is that really biblical? I've read of an earth without oceans but to be a flat plane hovering on water I haven't read that before, can someone give us a quote for the origin of this idea?

It's only Biblical if you understand the Bible in a certain way. For example the Bible calls the earth a circle, not a sphere, a 2 dimentional circle.

Type 'hebrew cosmology' into google and go to images.

Oh wow I've never seen that before! I see it is a typical example of the human putting themselves in the center of the universe - how incredible, no wonder atheists have trouble finding God lol.

Have a bunch of posts been deleted or did all this Drich stuff just come out of nowhere?
