  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone. I haven't been on my computer for awhile so I missed a lot of topics that were discussed. Please forgive me if I repeat things....
As Catholics (which I am too) are you upset with how the Church is handling the sex abuse scandals? I would like to hear your opinions on this. Do you feel that Priests and Cardinals should be forced to leave their positions when they knew about Priests abusing kids, but did nothing? How do you feel about Priests just being transferred to other Churches when they sexually abuse kids? What about that Priest in California that was a founder of a group that encourages sex between men and boys? The other Priests and Cardinals knew about it, but did nothing... I would like to hear your feelings about this.... This troubles me very much.... I am very dissappointed and am losing faith in how our Church is run.... Hope

I am not a Catholic. However, Catholic Priests or Cardinals are not above the law of the land. If they are guilty, they should pay for the crime just like anybody else would. As I said, I am not Catholic, but I don't think that being a priest or Cardinal or any other office in the church should be a license to brake the law.
