Stating in Boise

Boise River has many diversities, from rugged landscapes to a gentle flowing river right through the heart of a city were even children can float rafts with mom and dad any afternoon during spring and summer. You can float right by someones backyard just as you see in this photo.

Flows downstream from the outflow of Anderson Ranch reservoir, where the South Fork takes on the characteristics of a classic "tailwater" for over five miles from the put-in below the dam to Cow Creek Bridge.

20+ years ago my wife and I lived in Boise, and can't tell you how many times we floated that river... great fun! They used to have a bus service that would pick you up with your inner tubes, rafts, ice chests, whatever, and drop you off upriver. You just floated back to where your car was parked. People would have bar-b-qs going in their back yard, or you could pull over along the green-belt and stretch awhile or toss a frisbee. Great fun!
