Trigger notifications

On some websites where people discuss difficulties I have seen sometimes "Trigger warning" on a thread.

I wasn't initially sure what this meant and have never asked till now. I've assumed that it meant for that there was a possibility for people reading the thread it may bring up issues - a bit like saying "this film contains flash photography"

Or is it something else.

I just want to be sure I understand.

That is my take on the matter.

A bit like discussing the view from very high buildings in a forum of people with fear of heights.

Hi. You are correct. We don't require it but sometimes we will add it in if we feel there is a need for it. It helps alert other readers that there may be sensitive materials that may cause them to have difficulties with memories of something similar.
